Nirvana - Love Buzz 7" Original Single

No. 651 of 1000

 

I am doing the unthinkable...  I am offering my highly prized and extremely valuable copy of Nirvana's "Love Buzz" Single.

Let's start with the details:

This is Nirvana's first single, which was released in 1988 on the Sub Pop label.  It was also the first record offered in the "Singles Club".  This copy is number 651 out of 1000 printed.  The songs are "Love Buzz" (a Shocking Blue cover) and "Big Cheese".  Both the cover and the record are in mint condition. Not "pretty nice", not "real clean", I mean mint.

Here are the answers to the immediate question of authenticity:

  • Yes, "Alice Wheeler" and "Susan Sasic" are both plainly readable on the back cover.

  • Yes, it has the proper matrix inscriptions:

  Side 1: "SP-23-A Why don't you trade those guitars for shovels? L-31540" in handwritten text, as well as the "kdisk" machine stamp   Side 2: "SP-23-B L-31540X" with the "kdisk" stamp

The handwritten number on the back in in thin red pen and leans to the left.
Even though most handwritten numbers on Love Buzz singles lean to the left, there is a range of numbers which lean to the right, which suggests that the singles were numbered by more than one person.

I hope this resolves any doubt as to whether this is an original single.  I know that you will not be dissatisfied with this. It's not easy to let it go, but this is your one chance at it.
