THE OVERTONES-45-“I Been There Before” b/w “Spring (Is A Drag)”-Ajax Records #176-Killer and Crude 1967 Bronx NEW YORK Garage-Punk. Great 2-guitar punker, one guitar doing a Stones-ish “Off The Hook” chop riff, the other straying wherever…great lead vocal-sounds like a punk Felix from the YOUNG RASCALS…B side is more of the same, but R&B-ish, a crude ‘production’ of sorts with some brass buried in the mix-does not hurt the crude punk vibes….an attempt to sound like the Young Rascals…has a really cool reverbed out lead guitar break…great obscure New York 45. Only seen this once over the decades.
Condition:
Record is VG+ or better…some slight surface scuffs visible in certain light angles.Label has date stamped on both sides (see photo)
