Original 31.01.1976 Italian Press copy of Patti Smith- Horses, her debut album which includes Gloria & Redondo Beach. Pointless to highlight a couple of tracks, this is a punk flavoured legend of an album from start to finish that really needs no introduction for anyone of a certain age....
Long before The Spice Girls boarded the red bus, Patti was stomping all over the music scene with girl power. Yet the cover shot is androgynous, slightly arrogant, definitely confident & commands attention before you even drop the needle on the vinyl - you know you need to listen carefully.
An album that is totally part of cultural music history and belongs in everyone's vinyl collection. If you owned this LP in the distant past and are rediscovering post CD The Joy Of Vinyl, you could do much worse than this very cool Italian copy!
Released on the Arista black label on 31.5.1976 ( see photos) this is likely to be an Italian 1st press. It matters not - mastered by Bob Ludwig like its American cousin, the album throbs with raw power, a full bodied, blistering & totally engaging sound.
The record has been ultrasonically cleaned in our amazing Degritter and the vinyl has come up sparkling clean with a glossy sheen and no real marks apart from a few wispy scuffs and paper marks, nothing feelable. Clean labels and spindle holes - graded EX.
Playtest was a joy! It plays with vibrancy -clear tones, depth and masses of detail. Great instrument separation where everything is distinct in its own space
The vinyl plays through beautifully with no jumping, sticking or skipping. Some low background noise/crackle in a few places, mostly audible between tracks, definitely no spoiler.
The outer sleeve is solid & sturdy with light foxing, mild shelfwear to top and bottom seams, plus small creasing & corner rubbing. Spine readable with some creasing ( see photos) No writing, splits, stains, tape or tears.
The original paper inner sleeve is present with some wear, however, we have popped the record into a fresh poly lined inner sleeve to preserve it after cleaning - you will receive both.
