PAUL CHAMBERS SEXTET “Whims of Chambers” Blue Note 1534, DG, P, RVG Vinyl

This is the 1956, first edition, Deep Groove, Frame Cover, RVG-etched, "P"-pressing of PAUL CHAMBERS SEXTET'S “Whims of Chambers” on the "767 Lexington Ave" labels of Blue Note BLP 1534. Musicians include Paul Chambers, Donald Byrd, John Coltrane, Kenny Burrell, Horace Silver, Philly Joe Jones.

VINYL plays with consistent low level surface noise (i.e, static, ?? or ????,relative to the volume of the music/instruments), with occasional pops and ticks. Ensemble Instrumental sections are clear, dynamic and strong with clean transients, powerful extension and full tone. Side 1, #1 repeating tick; Side 2, #1 repeating tick. Side 2 noisier than Side 1. NO distortion. NO skips. Surface noise diminishes on both sides as disc progresses. As with all first pressing Blue Notes, the brilliantly performed and pressed music overcomes surface imperfections.  Many hairline marks--five feelable. Nice gloss. The Deep Groove "767 Lexington Ave " labels are clean with spindle wear. See photos.

FRAME COVER is in nice condition, lower right corner long wrinkle. Corners worn. Seams and Spine shows cracking, two-inch split on bottom seam at opening.  “BLUE NOTE RECORDS, 767 Lexington Ave., New York 21” back jacket shows wear, stain on top right and right side, Please see photos.

   

This LP was play-tested on a high-end system consisting of Kuzma Stogi Stabi turntable, Shindo Allegro preamplifier, Shindo Haut Brion amplifier, Devore Fidelity O/93 loudspeakers. RECORD CLEANED ON ULTRASONIC AUDIO DESK SYSTEME VINYL PRO CLEANER.
