Description
The Dark Side of the Moon A2 / B2 (1st Pressing - Solid Blue Triangle)
This 'solid blue' first pressing of this iconic album plays with excellent audio overall but there is some 'background' which is mainly on S2 as detailed in the play grading. It comes complete with a 'midnight blue' gatefold and the original posters and stickers.

Visual grading
There are a number of faint hairlines on this vinyl but in the main they are superficial and have no affect on the audio. I would say the majority of them are sleeve removal hairlines. There are also a couple of very small scratches on S2 and a three very minor scuff marks and overall I would say S1 is cleaner than S2. This is still a perfectly acceptable first pressing and whilst it has been played a number of times it isn't heavily marked.
Play grading
There is a little static hiss on the 'Speak To Me' heartbeat intro but this decreases as the track progresses. 'Breathe' then plays with excellent depth and clarity. There is a little static in the background but it is exactly that, in the background and non-intrusive. With only a couple of soft ticks also this track plays impressively with no loud clicks or pops whatsoever.
'On The Run' again has some light background static on the intro but soon disappears and then plays with wonderful sonic quality. The depth and strong bass sound is superb. The odd static sound yes but overall this is a very 'clean' version for such an iconic album. Even when turned up loud there is no distortion and the quiet 'running man' end section has only minor static.
The clocks chime perfectly on the 'Time' intro and without distortion and then proceeds to play with great clarity and warmth. There is a hint of intermittent static on this intro but again it does not intrude on the quality of the audio. It is not crackle and there are no clicks or pops! Once the vocal begins the audio is stunning and there is no interference of any kind. The guitar solo plays with real power and you can turn up the volume without fear of distortion. The remainder is faultless and this is a 'high end' version of this timeless classic without doubt and very close to a Near Mint grading.
'Breathe Reprise' is nigh on perfect and grades as Near Mint the clarity and lack of 'background' is superb.
'The Great Gig In The Sky' intro does have some light crackle but there are no clicks or pops. This many would say adds to the audio 'experience' and is one of the reasons why we prefer to listen to vinyl. It certainly isn't intrusive and once the 'vocal' begins the power and depth and strong bass again is tangible. It plays incredibly well and again there is no distortion. The quiet vocal section that follows plays so clearly with only very light static here and there. So often this end section plays with a fair amount of 'background' but that is not the case here. Overall it provides a very impressive finale - just a couple of clicks literally at the end of the fade out.
------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
'Money' on S2 does have a number of clicks on the intro and some light background hiss but the music still plays very clearly. The second verse also has 3/4 light clicks and there are also a few more on the first half of the saxophone solo. This is a shame as other than that this track plays very well with no other 'background' In fact the back end of this solo and the following guitar sections play in sublime style with fantastic definition and power. The second half of this class plays with Near Mint quality with only a minimal amount of static on the quiet end section. Many copies also had a skip pressed into the grooves but that is not the case here.
'Us And Them' has some light crackle on the intro and 3/4 clicks but once the saxophone section begins the audio is a lot clearer with only a little 'background'. From then on it plays with excellent clarity although there is some light crackle again on the 'short sharp shock...' spoken section. The choruses in particular play with stunning depth and power and there is very little 'background' through to the end of the track.
'Any Colour You Like' plays with the stunning precision and there is hardly any interference, just a touch of mega light static in the quieter mid section. A superb version nonetheless and no clicks or pops.
'Brain Damage' has some light crackle on the intro but from the first chorus onwards the audio is of a very high standard. There is barely any interference, just a minor amount of mega light static in a couple of sections and again the power of the bass is stunning.
'Eclipse' end this first pressing with excellent depth and range. So often it plays with a fair amount of distortion on the top level but there is only a minimal amount here. The super quiet 'heartbeat' ending plays very clearly with only a little more interference right at the end.
The Gatefold
This original G & L 'midnight blue' gatefold does have some wear mainly around the edges. The top edges do have some rubbing but not an excessive amount. The spine is quite clean with only some wear on the corners. The right hand corners also have some rubbing but again not too much. The bottom edge of the front cover has only a little rubbing but the back cover one does have a small split of about 4cms. Aside from that the cover is relatively clean. The front cover has a little ringwear and this is a little more pronounced on the back and there are some light scratch marks also. The inside of the gatefold is in excellent condition with only light fading here and there. The opening edge has moderate handling wear. So whilst this gatefold certainly has areas of wear it is by no means wrecked and I have seen many that are fare worse.
Black inner sleeve
Whilst this poly-lined inner sleeve is in excellent condition with no splits or tears I do not think it is the original. This is because it is plain black and has no patent number or 'Made in Great Britain' on it.
The Labels
They are in excellent condition overall with only some light spotting. There is no writing however and whilst there is some spindle wear there is no an excessive amount.
The Posters and Stickers
The posters are in great condition with only one of them having a very minor corner crease. They have no pin holes or marking. The 'CrackBack / FaspPrint' stickers are also in superb shape with only one having a couple of very light creases on one corner.
