This is the UK Original of 'Piper At The Gates of Dawn' by Pink Floyd. This extremely rare press is complete with the first 2/1 matrix and the rares and earliest 1/1 mothers. The label has the essential blue/black Columbia text and states 'Gramophone Company' and 'Sold In The UK.' The record is complete with the Mono laminated flipback Garrod & Lofthouse sleeve and the original EMI advertising inner sleeve. This is an exceptionally rare press as this sleeve is still complete with the ORIGINAL SHRINKWRAP.
The record is in Very Good condition. The vinyl still has a high gloss, with a few light marks on both sides and a 1cm needle mark on the last track of side one. The blue/black Columbia label is completely clean. The blue is vivid and the black has only slight wear. The silver text is sharp and there is some spindle wear and a few spider marks. On playing the sound is rich, the voices and all of the accompanying sounds are vibrant and clear. The mark makes some momentary noise. There is some light background noise but it does little to spoil the enjoyment of this rare album. The record is in the original EMI advertising inner sleeve.
The laminated flipback Garrod & Lofthouse sleeve is in Excellent condition. This incredibly rare shrinkwrap sleeve has only been cut at the opening edge, so three of the four edges are immaculate. The colours are incredibly vibrant and the picture is extremely sharp. Some of the picture has come off of the top corner by the opening edge and that edge does have very light wear. On the back the shrinkwrap covers all but the opening edge. There has been a little disclouration to the flipbacks over time but it is exceptionally bright and clean. There is just a little wear to the top opening edges. The spine is obviously immaculate and the whole cover feels exceptionally solid.
