PINK FLOYD Piper At The Gates Of Dawn 1967 1st Mono, NM Vinyl
Title: The Piper at the Gates of Dawn (Columbia Records 1st issue mono) Record Company: Columbia Records
Catalog Number: SX 6157
XAX 3419-2 1 R / XAX 3420-1 1 M (both stamped)
Genuine 1st press Mono in excellent condition. This is one of the early presses and has NO "File under POPULAR : Pop Groups" text on the sleeve. The vinyl has its original high sheen and has been very well cared for. Vinyl is Near Mint under bright light, just the feintest light hairlines are barely visible. One of the very best copies I've seen - see the photos.
I have played the entire record on my Rega RP3 with ELYS2 cartridge and it sounds fantastic.
Here is a genuine piece of musical history - an excellent copy of Pink Floyd's first ever LP!
1st press matrix numbers and mother stampers:
Side 1: XAX 3419-1 1 R
Side 2: XAX 3420-1 1 M
Detailed description
Vinyl:
The vinyl looks superb and has retained its original bright high sheen. It has clearly been very well cared for. Under bright light, just a few of the very feintest hairlines were visible but there is nothing significant anywhere to see. I have played the entire record and it sounds awesome, NM.
This is a superb example and was a real pleasure to listen to. Both sides play-grades NM. With clean dynamic audio and only the very slightest of background crackle for a 45 year old record is amazing.
Labels:
Both labels have just very light spindle marking, suggesting that the record was not played very much. The side 1 label also has the KT tax code stamped near the centre hole.
Sleeve:
This is an original, complete correct example with no "File under POPULAR : Pop Groups" text printed on the top flip-back. It is very clean with no damage at all, writing, splits, tears or stickers etc and just light signs of use. There is the slightest of creases top left rear.
The spine is crisp clear solid and firm and the text is all 100% readable as can be seen in the photograph.
There are just the very lightest signs of use at the opening and there is minimal wear at the corners.
Inner sleeve:
Original black / white EMI advertising inner sleeve. No splits, tears or damage, just minor signs of age and use.
A fantastic complete example
