Original Motion Picture Soundtrack / Into The Wild (Eddie Vedder) – Vinyl Films Records (2007)(US) ...This auction is for a very RARE and Limited Sealed Double Record (pressed on U.S. vinyl). This exclusive vinyl version to the movie soundtrack includes an exclusive, extended version of the album track "The Wolf," a Limited Edition bonus 7" single (with both studio and live versions of the track "No More") and a 28-page full color booklet with lyrics and exclusive liner notes by Director Sean Penn. This very hard to find, highly collectible record release was only made available through the Pearl Jam Fan Club and sold out immediately. Also included (FREE) with this record will be a very limited compact disc EP with "Into The Wild" Demos and more. Eddie Vedder's Into the Wild is a collection of nine original songs and two covers for Sean Penn's film of the same name, based on Jon Krakauer's novel. Penn handpicked Eddie Vedder to score the project. He in turn came up with this collection of folksy, rootsy tunes where rock & roll makes fleeting appearances. It's a true solo project in that he played virtually everything on the set.

The chiming, acoustic sound of "Hard Sun," the lead-off single from this collection of solo Eddie Vedder material, might lead fans to wonder where the roaring guitars and grunge-drenched energy of Pearl Jam has gone. Yet the large-scale, anthemic quality of the song, its forceful, three-chord progression, and Vedder's familiar gruff and soaring vocals reveal that the singer hasn't strayed far from home turf.
INTO THE WILD, a soundtrack to the Sean Penn film of the same name, features 11 original tunes from Vedder that largely fit the mold of "Hard Sun." The songs are acoustic, wistful, earnest and open-hearted, yet boast arrangements and a production style that favors a grand sonic sweep over intimacy, the sound of unique personal dreams writ large (a perfect fit with the film's story, which concerns a young man's hitch-hiking odyssey). Sleater-Kinney's Corin Tucker and blues harmonica veteran Charlie Musselwhite join Vedder in creating the cinematic atmosphere, but its Vedder's voice that carries the show. Pearl Jam fans will find this release a surprising, but satisfying, change of pace.
