Take a close look at those label shots - notice that satisfying bulge toward the edge! These are some of the earlier copies pressed by EMI on decent solid vinyl. This is an A5/B5 - and remember, you can find 3 and 4 matrix copies from a year earlier. But this will be one of the earliest 5's from late '74. By all means pay a fortune for a really early copy if you can handle that - but let me assure you... A copy, like this, just 18 months from those original masters will run a beautiful 1973 copy very very close. When it comes down to it - only the very best pressings AND cleanest copies will deliver maximum Floyd. Late 70's copies can still sound really good. But if you want to replicate a 1973 copy 'on a budget' - this is as good a place to start as any. The vinyl comes housed in an original 1974 cover with hype sticker. The opening on the left is glued shut - like the early copies forming a nice solid opening panel. The original inner sleeve is present [correct for 1974] as are Both Posters. There are  NO STICKERS. This copy is offered to market for someone seeking ultimate audio - period. 
Vinyl (Ex/Ex+) Well, wow when you hear a clean early copy - it really does get you up to a new level with DSOTM. Just looking at the labels and surfaces you can immediately tell this is a low-mileage copy. And that's really THE MOST IMPORTANT thing to be tracking down. You need it CLEAN....you need a copy from the 1st 18 months. And we have it here..this copy - DELIVERS in ALL AREAS. A thorough testing from beginning to end reveals a mostly EXCELLENT+ level of playback with one slightest deviation. First thing to mention...the Heartbeats at the start of side 1 - you rarely hear this playing clean even on a decent copy [this has a deathly quiet backdrop]. This copy is playing them exceptionally clean - as good as I've ever heard [this is unusual]. The audio signal is clean and pure. I'm picking up no extraneous noise in the signal from use. Again that's unusual. Remember - these early copies were not mastered with audio limiters like later copies. You're gonna get the full audio range which some record players at the time could not deal with! It plays really clean into those super low-key moments and absolutely belts it out with no distortion in the high dynamic areas. A total treat to listen to. All I could detect was a few static crackles in one brief moment per side [e.g. ultra fussy Breathe segment]. Believe me when I say - this is about as good as it gets. The only deviation is a single tick during 'Money' - fairly low in mix [not upfront]. You will not find a better/cleaner playing copy - period. It plays unbeleivable clean into the quietest moments - extremely impressive. This is without doubt one of the best performers I've ever witnessed. If you're really seeking a top-level early copy...I'd be taking a long hard look at this listing...PLEASE NOTE  - BOTH the labels are autographed in black ink [difficult to make out]...Never heard a better copy - period.
Cover (Vg+) Not up to the level of the vinyl, but I can sort of live with that if the audio is absolute top-draw.. Nice deep blacks front and back.  A crease on the rear and a bit of surface wear on the rear [not as bad as it looks in the photo]. A bit of edge wear in places - but not too bad. A bit more on the spine and has been inked in [carefully]. Nice firm openings. The interior is looking superb - no issues at all. Overall the cover retains excellent rigidity.
Inner (Vg+) Lightly aged. No splits. One signature.
Posters (Ex+) Never been near a wall. Pretty much perfect.
