An original 1st issue of the WALL on UK Harvest. Matrix 2/3/3/3. The heavy-set vinyl comes housed in an original heavy-card gatefold cover. Now, make sure you are dealing with a genuine 1st! Believe me when I say it makes a BIG difference to the quality of manufacture. The 1st issue comes without any text in the square above the baby in a cell [see pics]. Later reissues include the band members name in purple - in this square. Also included are both heavy-card round cornered inners. And to top it off we also have the original PVC sticker on the front. So, that's a 100% genuine and 100% complete copy.
Vinyl (Ex/Ex+) In marvellous condition and someone's been very careful with them an used only lightly. Under close inspection I could only make out a couple of slightest marks per side - nothing remotely troublesome. A thorough testing from beginning to end reveals a mostly EXCELLENT+ level of playback with a couple of slightest deviations. Intros and inbetweens are really quiet and the audio comes across with excellent clarity. To witness the full majesty of the WALL I would argue one probably should head straight for a UK 1st press. The problem is always finding a clean copy - across four sides. This title is literally chock full of incredibly fussy audio. One careless mistake and bam! It's game-over. Because all that fear and loathing is built up in the moody atmosphere of this release. Played with a clean background it is revelatory. But with a bit of background - it will soon start to irritate. This copy is one of the cleanest I've had the pleasure to spin. Whilst not absolutely perfect - it is getting very close. And to manage this sort of standard consistently over four sides is a major undertaking! But this example is absolutely acing it across the board. Even the super fussy tracks like 'Mother' are really clean players. Super standard - consistently. Very little to grumble at at all. On disc 1 I detect a touch of presence briefly early in 'Brick 1'..And a couple of light ticks low in the mix before child talk [Blue Sky] - before the music in the track actually starts. And again in the steam train sounds at the end of the same track. But we are talking very small imperfections briefly over FOUR sides. A stellar rendition. And it comes highly recommended.
Cover (Ex/Ex+) Well, if the vinyl wasn't enough to grab your attention - what about the cover? First thing to mention is - does the camera lie? And, YOU need to be very careful with this title on-line. Many shots will often give you a misleading idea of how white and well preserved the cover actually is. LET ME ASSURE YOU - what you see here is the REAL DEAL. You see WHITE - you get WHITE. No trickery here - this bad boy is amazingly well preserved. So, so, few copies will actually look and feel like this cover does. Hardly any signs of ageing inside or out. No deformation. Perfect interior. No edge wear. Sharp firm openings. Four pointy corners. Perfectly flat and rigid - NO creasing. The spine = perfect. Literally, you could not better this cover if you built a time machine and went back to '79. And then the icing on the cake - the original PVC sticker. Overall the cover retains excellent rigidity.
Inners (Ex) Superb. No ageing. No splits.
Sticker (Ex-) Slight creasing. Otherwise excellent.
