Rare and impressive sounding second Half-Speed Master pressing of Wish You Were Here!
This is the pressing Columbia got right! The first pressing in the early 80s was a complete disaster with many EQ and distortion problems, along with several other Half-Speed Masters Columbia first released. There was such an overwhelmingly negative response that Columbia reissued some of the more popular albums with these issues fixed. They were a bit lazy about it though, just putting a clear sticker over the spines of the old covers with the new catalog number. In the case of this Pink Floyd album the catalog number was changed from HC 33453 to HC 43453. This is a copy with the clear sticker stating HC 43453.
Fun Fact: This has an alternate picture from the same set of photos taken for the cover. The man on fire is standing more upright, the flames are much more prominent, and the shadow across the bottom moves across the whole plane. If you look closely at the feet of the burning man on the original artwork you can tell that it's a statue that's being leaned forward a bit. This new image is much more convincing.
Condition
The cover is NM-, almost perfect! No tearing, fading, or ring wear. There are only a few VERY minor scuffs.
The record is VG+. There are two or three light scuffs that do not affect play and some extremely light groove noise at the very beginning of Side One, but they don't distract. It has only been played a few times and still sounds great!
Unfortunately, this is missing the original outer sleeve that had the robots shaking hands sticker on the front, but it has been kept in a resealing plastic sleeve.
