Greatest Hits II (very early pressing)

I would suggest this GH2 is a second pressing judging by the matrix numbers.  As vinyl in the 90s was only pressed in limited numbers it is becoming increasingly difficult to find one like this in superb condition.  The embossed Queen crest is raised very slightly on the front cover here.

The audio on Side One is Near Mint

On Side Two it is Near Mint-

The first picture sleeve is Mint and the second Mint-

The labels are Near Mint apart from on S4 which is Ex+ (one tiny area has folded over)

Visual grading

Under a bright light you can see some faint hairlines no doubt caused by the records being removed from the heavy duty inners but there are no scratches.  There are a few more hairlines on the second vinyl but as detailed below they have no detrimental affect on the audio which is first class.wear so perhaps the aforementioned hairlines have been caused by the vinyls being removed from their respective sleeves.  This commonly happens with inners that are made with thick card.

Play grading

Side One begins with barely any lead in static and thereafter plays with wonderful quality and no interference.  'I Want To Break Free' has the slightest of distortion perhaps but is only sporadic and still plays superbly well.  Very rarely do I grade as Mint on an LP that isn't sealed so I will err on the side of caution and grade this side as Near Mint.

'Innuendo' continues the quality on Side Two and only has a handful of quiet dust ticks during the Spanish guitar section which I'm sure could be removed with a professional clean.  The remainder of the side plays with amazing high quality audio and 'Who Wants To Live Forever' is a real highlight.  This track so often plays with crackle but not here!  Even the orchestral ending plays with no background noise whatsoever.  Breathtaking!

  Side Three again does not disappoint and plays practically as Mint.  The clarity and depth is astounding and there is no interference at all.

   Side Four ends the LP with audio that more than matches the previous three sides.  It plays with quality that is rare to find and once again there are no clicks, pops or jumps.  The classic 'The Show Must Go On' plays loud and true with impeccable audio.  I would say 'One Vision' has a little distortion but I find this is always the case with this LP.

In summary you would be hard pressed to find a better GH2 than this one.  The worst that can be said is that there are a few dust ticks but they will always be found on any vinyl and can obviously be removed.

Gatefold cover

The gatefold is without doubt one of the cleanest I have seen in a long time.  The edges and wide spine have almost no shelf wear and even the corners have minimal rubbing.  There are a few tiny creases near the top edge on the front and back cover and one minor 'nick' on the opening edge but other than that is is close to being Mint.  The opening edges have zero shelf wear which shows this cover has been only lightly handled.  It also retains that lovely glossy look as when first released and the inside of the gatefold is also untouched.  This truly is a fine example of this 25 year old cover and is so much better than so many you see today.

Picture sleeves

The sleeves are in perfect condition which is so rare as they so often have splits.  The first one is perfect and the second one only has a very minor crease on the thumb notch.
