RARE 45 rpm BY THE FLAMINGOS, 1953, RED VINYL, CHANCE

You are bidding on one of The Flamingos first hits -- GOLDEN TEARDROPS & CARRIED AWAY.  The record is red vinyl, Chance Records #1145.  Etched in on the unrecorded/smooth part of the label are numbers 45-5052 87 and 45-5055 87.  The record was cut in 1953.  I have had it for many years and have decided to sell all of my records, which, over the years, I either bought new, traded, got from friends, or bought at garage sales.

I've played both sides and there were not any skips.  It has not been cleaned.  I don't know how to grade records as I am not a collector or a dealer.  However, due to several inquiries, I have used the grading system in Mighty John's record guide to get a fair idea of the record's grade.  I came up with VG/VG+, but probably leaning more toward VG+.  I also looked at a couple of sites online and the grading descriptions were comparable to the MJ guide.   The record has a few light/minor surface scratches on it, but that's it. I was not a die-hard Doo-Wop fan which is most likely why it is in such good shape.   Again, I am not a collector so if you have any questions, feel free to email and I will answer asap because there are no refunds.  Hopefully the pictures will help too.

I have done research.  I checked with a few record dealers via phone and email on several of my records to get an idea of where to start my reserve.  I set the reserve below the mid of what I calculated from their help.   The "sight unseen" values I had received from the dealers ranged from $2000 to $4200.  From that , I got an average, cut that in half and went below that for my reserve.  With the relist, I have lowered the reserve and started the bid higher since I am listing for a shorter time.

Shipping & insurance costs are the responsibility of the buyer.  I will be having the record packed and insured at the UPS store in my area.  I've set the costs from UPS at $30.  In my original listing, I was going to wait until auction-end to get the S&H costs, but doing it this way will get it out faster, especially with the holiday season coming up fast.
