RARE Canadian NORTHERN SOUL 45 from 1963 BY SHIRLEY MATTHEWS AND THE BIG TOWN GIRLS. Record is released on the TAMARAC label as number TTM 602. Songs are "BIG TOWN BOY" and "(YOU CAN) COUNT ON THAT" . Record is in Excellent condition AND IT PLAYS GREAT .
THIS RECORD IS PRODUCED BY BOB CREWE WHO WROTE MANY SONGS FOR THE FOUR SEASONS AND OTHERS.
Shirley Matthews was a Canadian pop singer born in Harrow, Ontario in 1942. Matthews sang in a church choir and at high school dances prior to embarking on a career in music. She worked in a Bell Telephone office while singing nights at the Club Bluenote in Toronto.] Her debut single, "Big Town Boy", was a major hit in Canada in 1964, selling over a million copies. She won the RPM Gold Leaf Award for Female Vocalist of the Year in 1964. Later singles failed to duplicate "Big Town Boy's success.
"Big Town Boy" debuted on 1050 CHUM in Toronto on 2 December 1963, the same day as the Beatle's "She Loves You.

VG = a well-used record that still sounds OK when played, but may have moderate surface noise, pops, etc.
VG- = a very well-worn record that plays through without skipping, but will do until a better copy comes along.
