THANK YOU FOR VIEWING MY LISTING OF THIS RARE CLARENCE CARTER ALBUM "THE DYNAMIC CLARENCE CARTER" 1969 STEREO UK 1ST PRESS ON THE PLUM & RED ATLANTIC LABEL 588 172. ABSOLUTELY STUNNING NEAR MINT CONDITION. THE AUDIO HAS GOT TO BE HEARD TO BE BELIEVED, I WOULD PERSONALLY RATE THE AUDIO AS MINT ON MY SYSTEMS, I BARELY HEARD EVEN A STATIC CRACKLE. THIS ALBUM IS A SUPERB EXAMPLE OF THE FAME STUDIOS, MUSCLE`SHOALS, SOUL MUSIC. SUPERB PERFORMANCES BY THE GREAT CLARENCE CARTER , REMEMBER "PATCHES" FROM 1970? ALSO APPEARING ON THE ALBUM IS THE GREAT DUANE ALLMAN, PROVIDING BACKING GUITAR!

I have been a collector of vinyl for more than 30 years, with a collection of over 2,000 albums, the time has come to part with some of the collection. Over the coming months I will be listing some of the albums I have decided to part with here on ebay as well as on my bluesvinyl4u website, while the majority of my albums are blues related from all eras, there will be a mixed bag to chose from.
A BRIEF ARTIST DESCRIPTION

Clarence Carter was born 14th January 1936, Montgomery, Alabama, blind from an early age, Carter started teaching himself to play guitar at 11 years of age, he went on to graduate from Alabama State College in 1960 with a B.Sc. degree in music. His career in music started with when he joined up with a school friend Calvin Scott. They signed a record contract with Duke Records, they recorded four records for Duke none of them making any impact. Carter recalls, one of the highlights of his time with Duke was receiving his first royalty cheque, it was for 25 cents! In 1965 the duo went to Fame Studios in Muscle Shoals and were noticed by Atlantic Records who recorded them on their Atco label, again with little success. Due a car accident and injuries to Scott, Carter went solo and signed with Fame Records and began to record some relatively successful sides finally having his first hit with “Slip Away’. he followed this up with a number of hit single including “Patches’ a UK number 2 and US number 4 in 1970, the song was also nominated for a Grammy in 1972. With the advent of disco music his career suffered but continued to make records into the 80’s and nineties, taking up with Ichiban Records. during the 60’s and 70’s Carter’s music epitomised the Muscle Shoals Rhythm & Blues sound, he was not only a talented guitarist he was equally comfortable on keyboards, writing songs or arranging.
ALBUM DESCRIPTION
The Dynamic Clarence Carter issued on the Atlantic label in March 1969 was Carter’s second album and was recorded at Fame Studios, Muscle Shoals, produced by the legendary Rick Hall. Along with the million selling single for Clarence, “Too Weak To Fight” the album also contains a number of the popular songs of the era including “Light my Fire’’ and “Harper Valley P.T.A. and “I Rather Go Blind”. Along with many of the regular session musicians at Fame was Duane Allman who performed on guitar at a number of the Muscle Shoals recordings before becoming more famous with the “Allman Brothers”.

THE AUDIO
I can only describe the audio as stunning crystal clear and vibrant with great Mono reproduction, no distortion whatsoever. It plays through with no skips, jumps, pops or clicks, it sounds perfect in my opinion. (Obviously with an album of this age an odd bit of static has to be allowed for, but I barely heard any at all!) I would rate the audio conservatively as Nr Mint.
THE VINYL
On visual inspection the vinyl really looks mint, lays perfectly flat on the turntable with no sounding marks needle marks or scratches, not a hint of groovewear, like many of my albums I imagine this has only ever been played a handful of times. Only under a strong angled light can any wispy sleeve removal type marks be seen, hence in my opinion I would grade the vinyl as Nr Mint.
THE LABELS
The Plum & Red Atlantic labels look superb, clean with no marks or writing with barely any spidering at all. The spindle holes are perfectly round with no signs of wear at all, exceptionally rare to find in a over 40 year old record like this. I would grade the labels as Nr Mint.
THE COVER
The fully laminated MacNeill Press cover is in fantastic condition, super glossy with very little signs of wear, only a little laminate lifting near the spine when angled to light can I see a couple of tiny laminate creases. The spine which has virtually no wear at all, square and straight with all the wording perfectly clear and bright. Overall I would rate the cover as Nr Mint.
THIS ALBUM WILL BE SENT IN A LARGE BOX WITH CARDBOARD STIFFENERS THE VINYL AND COVER WILL BE INSERTED SEPARATLY IN POLY SLEEVES AND WRAPPED WITH PLENTY OF BUBBLEWRAP FOR ADDED PROTECTION.
