Description
RARE Metal Massacre Vinyl LP 1982 Metalworks MBR 1001 2nd Pressing.
This is the second pressing of Metal Massacre from 1982 on Metalworks Records, licensed from Metal Blade Records.
Side A and B have a few barely visible small scratches. Which I’ve highlighted with the ring light. A few other blemishes, but overall in almost pristine condition. Inner sleeve is discolored from 40 years of record crate storage. Outer cover has original shrink wrap.
Slight upper left corner damage as shown in the close up photo. Also on the back bottom left of cover, there is a small wrinkle. Any other wrinkles are just on the plastic shrink wrap.
I use a ring light to highlight any noticeable scuffs or scratches in my vinyl auctions. Also helps to better highlight the runout etchings, which will indicate the exact version of the release.
Some Album History—
Metal Massacre MBR 1001 was the first time Metallica appeared on vinyl.
The original issue on Metal Blade was limited to 4,500 copies which sold out immediately. Later that year a repressing was done by the Metalworks label.
This 2nd pressing has the silver front cover that just says Metal Massacre and the label is listed as Metalworks records on the back, licensed from Metal Blade Records. The labels are a silver and black simple typeset like the first press. Ratt and Black and Blue songs are included and the Steeler song is gone.
The first pressing has the same catalog number, and has a design with skulls on the cover.
