AUTHENTICATED BY JOWE HEAD HIMSELF. THIS VERSION IS NOT EVEN LISTED ON DlSC0GS AND THERE IS NO RECORD OF ITS SALE EVER ON P0PSlKE!!!
This auction is for an insanely rare 100% original first pressing copy which features a written message from Jowe Head in pencil on the front cover (still perfectly legible) plus the words 'teardrops & Defendants' etched into the play-out grooves of the vinyl on one side. I was completely unaware of this until I posted a pic of it and was astounded to receive a reply from Jowe Head himself (see photos) confirming it was indeed his hand responsible for the customisation. A friend has subsequently told me there was a feature on the Maps in either Record Collector or Spiral Scratch years ago in which a band member said the initial hundred or so copies were hand-customised with individual messages and etchings like this before they gave up! A truly remarkable artefact which I am gutted to have to part with but finances are tight and needs must! I sincerely hope the unique and one-off customisation offsets any failings in the condition of the record or its cover. I can imagine you will be hard pressed to ever find a copy like this for sale ever again!

Vinyl has visible scuffing - I would grade it as 'Good+' but plays absolutely fine with no nasty pops or audible scratches. Please see photos and be aware of condition before bidding. This record should be regarded as a rare collector's item for true fans of the band rather than a playing copy. A slight water stain on back sleeve and approx 1.5" inches of the edge has worn through from the single being placed into the cover over many years. Please see photos.
