Description

RCA LM 9021  "Piano Music of Mendelssohn and Liszt" by Vladimir Horowitz with cover art by Andy Warhol.  Now considered to possibly be the rarest Warhol LP cover, this recently attributed (June 2012) RCA cover was released in 1952 and soon re-released as LVT 1043 in the "Vault Treasure" series with a generic cover.

One recent listing said there are less than 7 copies known of LM 9021.

 

The copy offered was purchased new by me in the early 1950s.  The front of the cover is quite vibrant in color with virtually no rub marks or creases.  The spine and top seam are fully intact.  The bottom seam has a 2 inch closed split in the center portion, and a 3/4 inch paper rub-through at the junction of the seam and opening.  Please see photos.

 

Vinyl is Good to Very Good, with some label spindle marks.  Very serviceable for a 60 year old LP.

 

All in all, a very attractive example of a very rare item.
