Up for auction is this R.E.M. 45 rpm 7” of Radio Free Europe, b/w Sitting Still on Hib-Tone Records from 1981, by Dorothy Jane Music Co., BMI. This 45 has been in my possession since its release (I was a club DJ in the early 80’s). It is in superb condition, with only a couple (and I do mean “a couple”) of minor surface scratches. Etched into the vinyl is the following on the Radio Free Europe side: “HT-0001 RADIO FREE EUROPE O.K.? MASTERFONICS”; on the Sitting Still side the following is etched: “SITTING STILL HT-0001 MASTERFONICS” The sleeve is frayed on top (please see pictures), and the bottom portion has an approximate 2 ½” slit on the seam where the original adhesive must have eroded (can probably be re-glued). I hate to part with this 45, I am a huge fan of R.E.M. and Michael Stipe, but things are tough and I’m liquidating my entire vinyl collection.
