REPRO 78 - THE LION SLEEPS TONIGHT - THE TOKENS - CHARTED #1 IN 1961 ON THE BILLBOARD TOP 40 - PRIME RECORDS SET 1. Condition is "Used". Shipped with USPS Media Mail. B-Side is Does Your Chewing Gum Lose Its Flavor (On the Bedpost Overnight) which appears to be seldom played got to #5 in 1961.
The Lion Sleeps Tonight is a great record that is only available in the Prime record set, and it is not often sold outside of the complete set. This record isn't perfect, Between 5-7 o'clock near the edge of the record in the second photograph you can see an irregularities. They aren't scratches, but it looks like a protective sealer that has bubbled. There are a few more smaller but similar areas on the record. I've seen this on other reproduction records. It doesn't necessarily affect the play of the record. The record does not skip, but for the first 21 seconds of the record, it has noticeable background noise and a clicking sound. For the rest of the 2:35 minute record it plays fine. I liked the record enough to keep it in my jukebox for many years. A lot of better playing records never got played.
