Description

I have for sale a rare Beatles "Yesterday and Today" butcher cover LP. Includes the record too in absolutely MINT condition. Also included is the covering letter from Capitol Records recalling the record to replace the cover!

For those who are not aware of the history, before the inoffensive trunk cover became the standard photo for this release, Capitol used this avant-garde Bob Whitaker photo taken on March 25, 1966 in Chelsea, London, England. This controversial cover is known as the infamous "Butcher" cover...totally recalled just as it was about to be distributed (included in this auction is a copy of the recall letter from Capitol Records dated June 14, 1966). Capitol Records, in a clever cost-saving move, decided to paste a different slick (the "trunk cover") over the 'butcher cover" instead of throwing them all away.

This will be sent in a secure package purpose built for sending 12" records! You will not be disappointed.
