Very Rare PINK FLOYD "Dark Side" US Harvest label (SMAS 11163) 12" acetate.  This disc was mastered directly from the tape copy sent to Capitol US by EMI UK at the Captol Tower studios in L.A.  A very few copies were made for the A&R & Sales department to check on the songs, sequence and EQ on the tape.  Maybe 5-8 of these were cut, one at a time, from the actual tape that was used to make the records from.  Very few of these record company items ever survive for this many years and never in this pristine condition.  Little did anyone know at the time that this would go on to be one of the best selling albums of all time and the number one best selling 8-Track of all time!!!  Over 40 million sold....almost as good as McDonalds!! 

According to the December 1, 2001 issue of Billboard, Pink Floyd's Dark Side of the Moon has been on the charts for an astounding 1,285 weeks. That's just under 25 years! Its closest rival is James Taylor's Greatest Hits, checking in at 573 weeks on the chart. James can expect to reach Pink Floyd's record number in about 13 1/2 years. 

This acetate has been in storage for years, in a long time Capitol employee's closet.  Comes with the original Audiodiscs 12" blank acetate sleeve AND an original 8" x 10" mini sheet.  Condition, most solid VG++, only played once or twice at the time.  A few very light sleeve scuffs.  There is a very, very small piece (1/2") of the laquor missing from the extreme edge of the metal disc.   Labels are VG++,  a spindle mark is visable in direct light on each side.  The cool mini sheet has some fading due to the fact that it was inside the sleeve all these years, next to the disc, and some of the laquor fumes have passed into the paper.  The paper sleeve is in excallent condition, no splits...only one small tear at the top of the label hole.  See scans.  REASONABLE RESERVE.
