Rockabilly Ronnie Ray 45 Record Garage pre Surf Instr. Hear "Mean Mama Blues" & The Vulture 1960
This auction is for my third and final copy of the Ronnie Ray and the Playboys' 1960 rockabilly record The Vulture/ Mean Mama Blues. Auctions for the previous two copies ended with last second automated bidding wars. In other words, the person who held the highest bidder position all week was sniped in the closing seconds. The condition of this record is a solid VG+ with numerous VERY light surface imperfections (radial marks) which were created by previous juke box play. These marks are seen when the record is held under a bright light source. If you win this record auction and are unhappy with my grading of this record - I promise to refund you the full purchase price (including postal fees) upon this record's safe return to me.
So who were Ronnie Ray and the Playboys and just why is this record so valuable? Well..back in October of 1959 Ronnie Ray (real name Ron Rekken) and Playboys ( a line-up that included: Larry McCrehin, Pete Beck and Bruce Carney) went to Minneapolis, MN to record at the CIRCLE DOT studio. This record was pressed in very limited quanities and released a few months later during the harsh Fargo winter of 1960. Don't worry about the boys ...they kept warm that January thanks to their red-hot single which featured two outstanding tracks: the rockabilly "Mean Mama Blues" and the pre-surf instrumental "The Vulture." This garage band from Fargo, North Dakota had a fair amount of local success and has subsequently been featured on a couple of compilation CDs...this is your chance to win the real thing.
