MEGA RARE LP By The Rolling Stones
Rolling Stones Debut LP
1A/1A MATRIXES!
2.52 DEMO VERSION OF TELL ME!!!!!
On offer here is a once in a lifetime chance to buy the holy grail of Rolling Stones LPs! This is one of the rarest, most collectible records not only of the Stones, but of all time! This is a copy of the Rolling Stones debut LP with the insanely mega-rare matrix numbers XARL 6271 1A / XARL 6272 1A. Yup, this has the 2.52 DEMO version of Tell Me!!!!
The story goes that back in 1964 when the LP was being mastered for press a producer accidentally used the wrong take of 'Tell Me (You're Coming Back)' for release. This version, considered the demo, lasts for just 2 minutes and 52 seconds. The track is very bare with just a couple of instuments, a shoddy vocal from Mick with no studio enhancements made to it and an initially out-of-time bass from Bill Wyman. There isn't even a guitar intrumental in it! The whole thing just sounds so amateurish!
The mistake was discovered almost instantly after production started and was removed very quickly. In its short time the majority of copies that had the 2.52 demo track on were released had a side 1 matrix ending in 2A. It's believed that only the first few hundred copies ever pressed had the 1A/1A matrix numbers and that these were the copies mostly likely designated as the promotional copies sent out to radio stations and record stores. And we all know what happens to them!
Do not under-estimate how rare and unique the 1A/1A copies of this LP are. In the many years of eBay only 4 or so copies have ever come up for sale. They're so hard to find that until recently some collectors didn't think they even existed! It's believed that only 10-15 copies still exist in the world to this day.
And this is your chance to become one of those people!!! This is your chance to add something to your record collection that you can be certain only a handful of other people can claim to have!
Don't miss your chance!!

Walking the Dog Side 1 Matrix Number XARL-6271-1A Side 1 Stamper Code 2B / UD Side 2 Matrix Number XARL-6272-1A Side 2 Stamper Code 1 / K The Cover Front Back VG The sleeve is holding up pretty nicely for its age but does have some wear. The front cover is clean with small but numerous creases around the edges. There is some disc impression and a little wear down the mouth. There is a small 1/2" tear in the middle of the mouth. The top and bottom seams are holding up great. The spine has some light wear and some creases running through it but is fully legible and complete. The back cover again has some disc impression and the name 'Elizabeth Payne' written at the top left. There are creases on the overflaps and down the spineside. The back cover has browned a little but has no staining. The browning is a little darker at the mouth and there's a small tear just over an inch long that runs from the mouth along the top of Micks photo. Overall the sleeve is holding pretty okay. The Vinyl Side 1 Side 2 VG- The disc has a nice shine to it but sadly the playing surface is covered in surface scuffs. Side 1 has nothing heavier but side 2 has a heavier scuffmark at the top running over the tracks. Side 1 plays better than it looks with a great sound and only a little light background crackle. Side 2 plays the same but the heavier scuff causes an audible static like sound frequently during play whenever the needle passes over it. You can hear this for yourself in the audio clip provided. This static noise is heard frequently throughout Tell Me but it's only really audible during the quieter parts. During the louder chorus the music drowns it out so that it's only barely audible. The needle doesn't skip once. Overall this is a nice copy of an insanely rare LP! The Labels Side 1 Side 2 VG Both labels are clean, crisp and clear with lovely bright silver text. The side 1 label has a piece of paper on it that seems to have been glued on with the initials E.A.P. on it. Side 2 has the mark of a rectangular sticker that was once on it. This may have possibly been a 'Factory Sample' sticker but this is just an assumption. Both labels have some light spindlewear and a little wear around the centerhole. The Small Print
(By bidding, you agree to these terms and conditions)
Items lost in the mail
In the extremely rare event that your item is lost in the mail then please let me know. I collect proof of postage with every record I send and can do my best to chase up anything if anything goes AWOL. However, if insurance was not taken out then unfortunately there is very little I can do.
Items damaged in the mail
In my 5 years of buying and selling on eBay, only 1 item I have sold has arrived at its destination broken (and that was only because the postman decided that he was going to fold the parcel (which clearly had 'FRAGILE' and 'DO NOT BEND' on it) in half so that it it would fit in the letterbox). In the extremely unlikely event that an item arrives broken or damaged then please email me so that we can sort something out.
Insurance
All items I sell can be insured regardless of how much they sell for. These additional costs will appear as optional extras on your checkout receipt. It is entirely up to you if you would like such cover but I strongly recommend that insurance is taken out for the more expensive records.
Refunds
Refunds will only be offered if it can be proven that the LP you receive is not the LP you bid for. I am very honest in my grading and give an accurate description of the condition of the LP, but if you are unhappy with the item then please let me know so that we can work something out. I will not refund you if an item is damaged or lost in the mail since that is the fault of the post office and not me - hence why insuring a record is always a good idea.
Regarding the audio clip featured on this auction.
The audio clip does NOT contain a complete song, but rather the mere placing of the needle onto the feed-in edge and approximately 20 seconds of the opening track. This is purely for the potential bidder and / or buyer to use as a guide so that they can hear for themselves the quality of the album they could be paying for. The clips presented are purely for this one purpose and should not be confused with anything else. Requests for longer clips will be denied. And before you ask - yes, I *have* checked this with eBay and have been given the all-clear.
