Rolling Stones – Some Girls – Genuine 1978 UK 1st pressing dating to the original release date of 9th June 1978 with the ultra rare WITHDRAWN 'Monroe' cover.
The last great Stones album with classic tracks such as, Some Girls, When the Whip Comes Down and Beast of Burden.
A stunning example which has only received 3 or 4 plays in its 37 year history. Side two appears to have only been played twice. What makes this particular copy desirable is the fact that it comes in its original and ultra-rare withdrawn cover which is in spectacular MINT- condition.
A Brief History of the Artwork
Designed by Peter Corriston, the artwork quickly ran into problems when Lucille Ball, Farrah Fawcett, Liza Minelli, Judy Garland, Raquel Welch and the estate of Marilyn Monroe objected to their images being on the artwork. The cover was immediately withdrawn from sale and replaced by an alternate cover with the above celebrities having been removed (see listing example). This cover features the original artwork with the above celebrities still on the cover. A true rarity especially in this amazing condition.

MINT-
An outstanding and original example in pristine factory fresh condition of this ultra-rare withdrawn Monroe cover. Any imperfections that the cover may have, have probably been made during production. An absolute stunning cover. The spine is in perfect condition. The ‘cut-out’ edges for the faces on the outer cover are razor sharp and undamged. The inner card sleeve is also in pristine factory condition showing only a faint disc impression which due to the way the record was packaged and initially stored is unavoidable. Investment grade condition and final upgrade.
Disc
Visual: MINT-
A superb looking disc which appears MINT in strong daylight. On closer examination to side one, I noticed one or two ultra light hairlines and some whispy sleeve removal marks, grades at near MINT. Side two is completely unmarked and I struggled to see even whispy sleeve removal marks, so just a whisker away from an all out MINT grade.
Labels: MINT-
A stunning set of factory fresh labels. Side one has one or two near invisible spindle marks indicating that side two has only been played once or twice. Side two has perhaps three or four light spindle trails but these are near invisible. There is no writing or personalisation to any of the labels. A beautiful set of these great looking yellow labels with the Rolling Stones logo.
Audio: MINT-
1978 is still very much in the pre-digital age and there is no greater band for rich deep analogue sound than the Rolling Stones. Totally unworn vinyl with absolute no groovewear or distortion to any of the music signals. All gaps are silent with only the sound of natural vinyl. The record does not jump or stick.
