Overall Description
Here we have an original 1st UK press of the classic Rolling Stones record!!
This is a TRUE 1st press with a Clout and Baker printed outer sleeve!! Clout and Baker Ltd were only used for the very very first run of ‘Out of our Heads’, before Robert Stace Ltd took over for the remaining run of the record. Many sellers on ebayer have sold “1st presses” that are Robert Stace printed, but it is extremely rare to see a Clout and Baker sleeve, in fact I can’t find a single sale of one on the internet!!
The record itself is a true 1st press with the red unboxed Decca, with the famous Decca Groove.
The stampers are really really low!! Decca used the word BUCKINGHAM for numbering of the Stamper. The first Stamper to be made from the Mother has the letter B, the next one has U and so on. You may also sometimes find combinations of two or even three letters. Numbering logic goes like this:
B = 1, being the first stamper taken from the mother
G = 7, being the seventh stamper taken from the mother
UK = 24, being the twenty-fourth stamper taken from the mother
The stampers here are

Outer Sleeve
The ultra-rare Clout and Baker Ltd printed outer sleeve is in really nice condition. There are no rips, tears or stains to mention. The laminated front looks superb in almost black and white, compared to the greener later presses. There is minimal creasing with no laminate lift to mention. The matt rear sleeve is in excellent condition with only mild ring wear and a neatly written name to the top edge. The spine is perfectly straight and readable!! Excellent
Inner Sleeve
The original Decca advertising inner is in excellent condition, with no rips, tears or writing. Only mild folding to mention!! Great!! Excellent!!
Labels
The unboxed Decca labels are in great condition with no rips or tears to talk of! There are initials neatly written on both sides and a few light spindles can be seen under a halogen bulb!! Very Good +
Vinyl Visual
There is no evidence of warping at all!! A few hairlines can be seen under a strong halogen bulb, but no deep scratches that can be felt or effect play. The record still retains its factory shine and lustre as it did over 45 years ago Very Good +
Vinyl Audio
The record played through superbly!! There are no jumps or skips. There is no warping at all. There are occasional pops and a little static between tracks, but it’s all quite minimal. The dynamics of the band are still crystal clear and separate. There is no distortion on the heavier parts. Superb! Excellent
Overall
So there we have it, probably one of the rarest 1st pressings of Out of Our Heads to ever pop up on eBay. I have not seen a Clout and Baker outer sleeve sold before and I don’t think you will again!!
