Sticky Fingers

The very first and very earliest UK pressings of this magnificent Stones release . Only a very few had the large zip variant and were the very first to be rolled off the press. They were soon to be immediately discontinued owing to the damage the zips were doing to the vinyls when sent to the retailers. Indents were transferred on to the back of the records in front during transportation and had to be immediately discontinued. Therefore hardly any seen these days ,as numbers that were released were very low indeed.
This Stones album marks a serious development in the Rolling Stones repertoire as the insert of this album initiated the famous red tongue logo which became their trademark for many years to come, even to this very day . Was supposed to be placed behind the zipper for shocking sexual connotations and this album release caused a massive outcry in the seventies… Probably the sexiest album sleeve ever produced apart from Hendrix’ Electric Ladyland. The pun on sticky fingers was considered outrageous and caused much outcry when released. The crotch photograph on front face was shocking in that era of production but caused a huge increase in the records sales world wide and is probably one of the Stones greatest selling discs. The media are still trying to find out whose crotch it was..still debatable to this day…. The entire album was permeated by images of sex and death, yet the tone of the work was neither self-indulgent nor maudlin. The group's playful fascination with sex was further demonstrated on the elaborately designed Andy Warhol sleeve which featured a waist-view shot of a figure clad in denim, with a real zip fastener which opened to display the lips and tongue motif that was shortly to become their corporate image. Very historic album release and very significant to the Rolling Stones’ image and group development.

1971 original and one of the very earliest pressings on Rolling Stones Records production
Red tongue/yellow label format in excellent condition . Near perfect soft textured labels in beautiful condition. No rips. No tears. Light spindle trace! Hardly any spindle wear at all! No graffiti of any kind. Mega rare in this condition . Appear stunning against the jet black of the vinyl .
Vinyl
Thick quality press with T M L Rolling Stones Records hand etched in run offs of the vinyl to make this record have that extra personal touch. Highly polished surfaces with a few hairlines/light surface visible when held against a strong light, but disappear beneath its staggering sheen. Excellent visual with just one minor divot possibly caused by zip, prime example of why the sleeve was withdrawn . Lightly played Mega rare to locate like this as most were played and played into submission .
Album cover
Sleeve is very good + condition. The zipper is obviously the focus of attention as quite a stir was created when this cover was designed. Andy Warhol creation and portrays the mega rare P .A .N . zipper which is larger than the more average cover version and this zipper is proving to be very difficult to track down as only a limited number issued in this large format. Germany made quite a few of these covers in order to meet the excessive demand that this outrageous album design created but only a few were imported in this way. (The vinyl is UK pressed of course). This album sleeve is one of those imported covers. The zipper is close to perfection and one of the best ever viewed. Very firmly attached and fully operational . Hardly any tarnishing on the metal and a beautiful exhibit .
The belt on waist is slightly kinky(bent),torn slightly but still attached ! Apart from that flaw, a really unique album sleeve and a pleasure to view .
Poster/insert in excellent +/nrmint- condition with nothing to fault which collectors will truly relish.
Audio
Truly sensational with little to fault . Tones are beautifully transmitted and the extra loud cut engineering is quite phenomenal ! At least a very good audio and considerably better in some parts . Just a few faint ticks, so insignificant really, one pop from the divot and a little static detected between tracks and the quieter parts/ opening grooves. Play extra loud and you will be spaced out with its magnificent R&B blasts.
Superb example of this mega rare ,limited number release and a serious exhibit for the vinyl enthusiast !
