Druggy, heavy and absurdly consistent psych rock. Has the "plenty heavy, but floating along peacefully" vibe of the Morgen album, but with enough feedback and noise scattered across the album to draw in picky weirdos like myself. And while not all of the tracks are outstanding, none are bad. It helps that one of their guitarists (not sure which) is doing a remarkable Leigh Stephens impression through the entire thing, AND it's produced by the same fella who produced Blue Cheer's first two albums. So naturally that distinct, wooly cave sludge is on this thing as well.

A good friend here on the site has pointed out they I have neglected to review this fine album, so hopefully, this will correct that oversight. This has long been an absolute fave of mine. I even once met Bill Harper through a mutual friend while he was with a later band known as The Stepford Husbands. But he got called away from the table before I could get into this band with him. Their album is pure psychedelic heaven! While I often gravitate toward the heavier sounds, with all of their psychedelic effects and mayhem, this one doesn't really fit that bill. I won't tell you it doesn't have its share of heavy sounds, but I don't think that that is an accurate description of their music. They represent that rare San Francisco band that psychedelically rock your world with subtle sounds on tracks such as the awesome "Tahitian Melody", while blowing you away with the intertwined dual guitars found on almost every other track. The extended blues fest found on "Jammin" is pretty much what the title suggests. Fuzz guitar abounds, and Harper's relatively fair voice lends itself well to their reserved style. I can only imagine what a Savage Resurrection performance was like, and they would have fit in well sharing the bill with contemporaries such as Kak and The Frumious Bandersnatch, or even Blue Cheer for that matter. Quality material such as this sounds good with almost anything. I can't recommend this album enough.

·       THE RECORD

(a)          WE GRADE THE VINYL AS STRONG VG++, JUST A NOTCH BELOW NEAR MINT. A few light abrasions (probably just sleeve scuffs inflicted in storage over the years) ARE VISIBLE, but they appear fairly  insignificant relative to the overall condition of the vinyl, and are only moderately visually distracting. For most part, the vinyl looks impeccable, without any MAJOR visual flaws or imperfections. Much of the original luster is intact, and the vinyl shines and sparkles almost like new.

(b)            The record is pressed on a beautiful, thick, inflexible vinyl, which was usually used for the first or very early pressings. Usually, the sound on such thick vinyl pressings is full-bodied, vivid, and even dramatic. Do not expect to obtain such a majestic analog sound from a digital recording!

(c)           Of course, this is a full-bodied ANALOG recording, and not an inferior, digital recording!!!

·                               THE COVER

THE COVER IS NICE --- ABOUT VERY GOOD++ (VG++).

The following flaws or imperfections are noted on the cover:

-        Cover has some light ring wear (nothing significant); On the scale from 1 to 10 (1 being the least, and  10 being the most severe), we assess the severity of ring wear as 4

-         Visible shelf wear noted on the seams

-         Cover shows some light yellowing on both sides, apparently from aging.

-         Cover has one corner slightly worn / dinged / bent.

-         Cover has a few tiny wrinkles along the spine  (nothing significant)
