PLEASE READ BEFORE BIDDING: Please read the entire auction listing, including shipping costs, before writing to ask a question. OUR GOAL IS CUSTOMER SATISFACTION. In order to meet that goal, we will ALWAYS work with our customers on any concerns that may arise. Payment is required within seven days. We mail all paid items ONE WEEK after auctions end. Please keep in mind our listings are time consuming in detail and we are often traveling to find these gems, which at times delays the delivery schedule by a day or two. We ALWAYS process and ship every paid order. We have no control over parcels once they are mailed from our local Post Office.Overseas mail to some countries (Italy, Russia, France, in particular) has became very slow. Opening a dispute for slow mail is unacceptable and will result in blocking the bidder. We work hard to provide excellent service as is represented by our 8000 plus positive feedback. We use a VPI machine and thoroughly clean all records. Each order is carefully packaged by removing the LP from the jacket to avoid seam splits, use of 3 ml plastic cover sleeves over each LP and jacket, cardboard pad inserts, and placed in sturdy record mailers for safe delivery. The Electric Flag

\ USA - 360 SOUND COLUMBIA - CS 9597
STILL SEALED ((never opened in 47 years))
Actually harder to find than their first Lp = "A Long Time Comin'"and you never see this thing unopened/still sealed) ...here's a brand new 47 year old first pressing with a stone MINT cover (most are found worn with the dark color tones) ...
The Electric Flag's second album was released in December of 1968, just a few months after their highly rated debut. With guitarist Hoshal Wright replacing founding member Mike Bloomfield (formerly of Paul Butterfield Blues Band) and Herbie Rich taking full control of the organ (from another ex-Paul Butterfield member Barry Goldberg), you have a definite sequel to the Electric Flag's March 1968 debut LP, A Long Time Comin' appearing right on its heels, in December of that same year. The first album had "An American Music Band" under the group's name, and that slogan becomes the subtitle of this follow-up Lp. Janis Joplin songwriter Nick Gravenites takes the hook out of Barry Goldberg's "Sittin' in Circles" and reinvents it for "Hey, Little Girl" on this installment. Where 60 percent of the first album was written by the Paul Butterfield exiles Bloomfield and Goldberg, the songwriting is pretty evenly split between the two songs each by Buddy Miles, Harvey Brooks, and Nick Gravenites, with Brooks and Gravenites co-writing an additional title, "Nothing to Do." This makes for a heavier blues recording, co-produced by Brooks and Cheap Thrills album producer John Simon, who doubles on piano here (which he played on Janis Joplin's "Turtle Blues" on the aforementioned Big Brother & the Holding Company LP). The big revelations, though, are the cover songs, Dr. John's "Qualified" and an unbelievable version of Bobby Hebb's "Sunny," which Buddy Miles just encompasses and devours. The blending of styles is intuitive, as Hebb and Mac Rebennack/Dr. John had worked together on their own. Virgil Gonsalves' flute at the end of "Sunny" is frosting on the cake, but the key is that a song which was a smash on three formats -- R&B, country, and pop charts, and captured the heart of jazz musicians from Ella Fitzgerald to Pat Martino, gets this total reinvention here. As brilliant as Nick Gravenites is as a songwriter, it is Hebb's tune which is the centerpiece of this LP.
They all trade lead vocalist duties, from Nick Gravenites on "Nothing to Do" to Herbie Rich on the Dr. John cover. It's an amazingly dense set of recordings which, years later, form a remarkable thread of sounds by musicians who worked with Jimi Hendrix, Janis Joplin, the latter day Big Brother & the Holding Company, and who were taking the original concept a step further into uncharted waters. Where the Electric Prunes were a fun psychedelic moment, the neon signs superimposed over Buddy Miles' face didn't get the same immediate recognition. Real textbook material here, highly enjoyable, and very important.

CONDITION: The Cover: STILL FACTORY SEALED ...never opened in 47 years; factory sealed in 1968 ... this is normally an extremely wear-prone cover ...there are a couple small tears in the outer cellophane exposing the cover underneath, minor bit of wear only where bit of cellophane is torn (bottom), the actual cover underneath is extremely clean compared to the usual copy... the outer cellophane is also scuffy from 47 years, but that's understandable and no affect on the actual cover... has no split seams, no writing, and no delete marks ...never opened - never played ...STILL FACTORY SEALED 1968
