ORIGINAL UK CBS (63294) FIRST PRESSING (March 1968) OF THE ELECTRIC FLAG'S DEBUT LP "A Long Time Comin'" IN EXCELLENT CONDITION DELIVERING SUPERB AUDIO ON MY SYSTEM (AT A VERY LOUD VOLUME!) WITH A HEAVY, DEEP AND WARM SOUND - RICH AND SOULFUL BRASSY BLUES - GREAT STUFF

PRESSED ON QUALITY HEAVYWEIGHT VINYL (very thick and chunky) WITH THE FIRST ISSUE TEXTURED DEEP ORANGE CBS LABELS WITH NO *STEREO* INDICATION

THE LP IS HOUSED IN THE ORIGINAL FRONT LAMINATED COVER “Sleeve produced by the Upton Printing Group” WITH TOP AND BOTTOM 'PINCHED' SPINE
AND COMES COMPLETE WITH THE ORIGINAL DIE-CUT ORANGE CBS COMPANY INNER SLEEVE

A Long Time Comin' is the "new soul", described appropriately enough by the late critic Lillian Roxon, and tunes like "She Should Have Just" and "Over-Lovin' You" lean more towards the soul side than the pop so many radio listeners were attuned to back then.
Nick Gravenites was too much of a purist to ride his blues on the Top 40 the way Felix Cavaliere gave us "Groovin'," so Janis Joplin's eventual replacement in Big Brother & the Holding Company, Gravenites, and this crew pour out "Groovin' Is Easy" on this disc.
It's a classy production, intellectual ideas with lots of musical changes, a subdued version of what Joplin herself would give us on I Got Dem Ole Kozmic Blues Again, Mama two years later, with some of that album written by vocalist Gravenites.
Though launched after Al Kooper's the Blues Project, A Long Time Comin' itself influenced bands who would go on to sell more records.

LABELS: The labels are clean, bright, fresh and unmarked with light spindle traces (less than a dozen)
VINYL Visual: Both surfaces retain their original deep, glossy sheen. On close inspection under a bright light there are some superficial hairlines but these have little audio consequence - the LP sounds great
VINYL Audio: Sensational audio delivery - crystal clear, warm, rich and detailed sound and on playback at a loud volume (which is how I always listen to my LPs prior to listing) there are no scratches, no sticks or jumps and barely any click/pops or surface noise - just a touch on the run-ins and between some of the tracks (very, very little). This is a very fine copy indeed and the whole LP plays with superb clarity, no discernible groove-wear and no distortion and is strictly graded a strong EXCELLENT to (+) for audio - sounds great
SLEEVE: The original 'Upton' sleeve is in NEAR MINT condition. The front laminate has a beautiful deep, practically unrubbed, glass-like glossy sheen and the unlaminated back is remarkably clean and fresh. There whole sleeve has crisp, square edges with no storage wear and the spine (which is 'pinched' at the top and bottom) is sharp with all text clear and bold - superb original sleeve
