This is from my personal collection!  more than 37 years old!!! stored with the vinyl seperated from the sleeve and cover for protection for over 25 years! This is how I have always stored my records! This I beleive would be the 2nd pressing so rare to ever find in this condition and a very very early 2nd pressing noted for the original flip back sleeve which was also issued with the 1st pressing (very very rare to find) Please note,  this would have been pressed from the same masters as the original 1st pressing, which makes this so desirable, you can see how early this pressing is from the 1st press\1st issue flipback G&L cover!!! ! This is a 1968 recording originally released on the blue\black columbia labels which I am fortunate to own so I reluctantly have decided to list this awesome copy! This copy is unique in that it was pressed from the original 1st masters look!! -1 -1 matrix endings and the audio is as good as it gets in my opinion, also features '1'' to ''1'' mother stampers (the best for top audio quality)!!A real collectable item!!!Please don't get this confused with later press with later matrix this is highly collectable like this! ! !Those who know the type of records that i collect and have sold on Ebay would realise that I am quite finatical about the audio quality, This album was pressed from the 1st masters and has '1' to '1' mothers, so would produce the best audio available for this issue in my opinion!(later press would sound very bland in comparison)!!!! !

Shades of Deep Purple is the debut album by English hard rock band Deep Purple, released in 1968 originaly on yellow\black Parlophone labels in the UK and Tetragrammaton in the United States.  The pressing that I have here on offer is an early 1970s pressing on the Parlophone\EMI labels a very rare and sought after pressing that is rarely seen especially in this condition!! This would mark officially as the third pressing! The vinyls playing surface is very near pristine!!!! The unique charactoristics of this pressing is that it was pressed from the original 1st master! Hence the matrix on both sides -1 -1 This would have been pressed very soon after 1969 - to early 1970 This is in unbeleivable condition for 37 years old! trully awesome audio on all frequencies!!!! 

The album reached #24 on Billboard's Pop Album charts in the U.S.!!

In October1968, the group had success in the US (but not the UK) with a cover of Joe South's "Hush", which reached #4. The song was taken from their debut albuIm   Shades of Deep Purple, and they were booked to support Cream on their Goodbye tour!!.

ON INITIAL INSPECTION!!!!! . THIS VINYL IS OF THE HEAVIER AND THICKER TYPE OF VINYL WITH DEEPER AND MUCH MORE ROBUST THAN THE LATER PRESSINGS WHICH ARE MOR FLIMSIER!!!!I CAN HARDLY SEE A BLEMISH ONLY IN STRONG LIGHT CAN POSSIBLY ANY WHISPY SLEEVE REMOVAL MARKS\SCUFFS  BE SEEN CAUSED FROM THE VINYL BEEN SLID IN AND OUT OF ITS SLEEVE WHICH HAVE LITTLE IF (NO) ADVERSE EFFECT ON THE AUDIO! IN STRONG LIGHT I CAN JUST SEE A MINUTE MARK APROX 2MM  ONLY IN WHICH IT IS HARD TO NOTICE ANY EFFECT IF THERE IS IT IS OBLITERATED BY THE STUNNING AUDIO, WHICH I WOULD GRADE AS AT LEAST EXCELLENT PLUS ON MY SYSTEMS EVEN PLAYED AT VERY LOUD VOLUME IS TRULLY AWESOME!!!

THE AUDIO QUALITY

I HAVE PLAYED THIS VINYL THROUGH TRACK FOR TRACK AT VERY LOUD VOLUME ON A TOP SYSTEM PRIOR TO LISTING, IT IS OBVIOUS TO ME THAT THIS HAS BARELY BEEN PLAYED FOR A 40 YEAR OLD VINYL, CRISTAL CLEAR AND VERY VIBRANT, THE IMPORTANT FACT THAT THIS WAS PRESSED FROM THE EARLIEST MASTERS MAKES ALL THE DIFFERENCE! UNBELEIVABLY RARE , DEEP PURPLES DEBUT, 40 YEARS OLD LIKE THIS!! 

 THERE ARE (NO) AUDIO SOUNDING MARKS OR SCRATCHES THAT I HEARD DURING THE AUDIO!!!! AND I WOULD CLASS MYSELF AS HIGHLY CRITICAL (PLEASE LOOK AT MY COMPLETED SALES TRANSACTIONS OF THIS CALABRE AND YOU WILL SEE THAT I NORMALLY GET IT RIGHT!!!!! THE AUDIO IS TRULY BRILLIANT IT'S CRISTAL CLEAR AND VIBRANT EVEN BETWEEN TRACKS IS VERY QUIET TOP TOP AUDIO THROUGHOUT!!!!!!(SO RARE FOR A VERY EARLY  PRESSING PRESSED FROM THE EARLIEST MASTERS)!!!!! THE VINYL RETAINS ITS ORIGINAL SHEEN FROM NEW AND LOOKS AWESOME. (GENUINE 43 YEARS OLD) !!!!!!IF I WAS TO BE HIGHLY CRITICAL I COUL HEAR MEGA LIGHT STATIC TICKS AT THE OUTRO TO THE LAST TRACK ONLY BUT I MUST STRESS NOT DURING THE AUDIO WHICH WAS ALMOST NEAR PERFECT THROUGHOUT!! I WOULD GRADE THE AUDIO AS TRULY SUPERBE AT THE TOP EXCELLENT PLUS!!!!! WITH (NO) SIGNS OF GROOVEWARE OR THAT THIS HAS BEEN OVERPLAYED THIS HAS ONLY HAD A HANDFULL OF PLAYS FROM NEW!!!!!!

THIS IS THE ORIGINAL GARROD & LOFTHOUSE LAMINATED FRONT COVER 1ST ISSUE WITH FLIP BACKS (PURPLE REAR WITH WHITE WRITING AT THE SPINE AND FILE UNDER POPULAR AT THE REAR) ONLY 1ST ISSUES! VERY VERY RARE LIKE THIS !! (LATER ISSUES FEATURE NON FLIPBACK WITH BACK AT THE REAR)! IN SUPERBE CONDITION FOR 37 YEARS OLD!!HAS NO SPLITS OR TARES!! IN FACT  THERE IS JUST VERY MINOR STORAGEWARE TO TALK OF VERY MINIMAL CREASES AND A SMALL SCUFF MARK  IN THE LAMINATE BUT NOT TOO BAD IN MY OPINION THERE IS A VERY SMALL NAME WRITTEN AT THE REAR TOP LEFT BUT VERY INOBTRUSIVE IN MY OPINION THIS COVER IS STRONG AND STRAIGHT !ANY RINGWARE OR RUBBING CAN ONLY BE NOTICED ANGLED TO THE LIGHT  !
