Description

Here's a great record from 1929 by LOUIS ARMSTRONG:  "SOME OF THESE DAYS."  The Shelton Brooks classic gets a first-class performance by this most influential of jazz trumpeters. This is one of the few records Louis made with his regular working band from Chicago, CARROLL DICKERSON AND HIS ORCHESTRA. Here's the complete personnel:  


LOUIS ARMSTRONG, HOMER HOBSON (trumpets), / FRED ROBINSON (trombone) / BERT CURRY, CRAWFORD WETHINGTON, JIMMY STRONG (reeds), / CARROLL DICKERSON (violin, leader), / GENE ANDERSON (piano, celeste) / MANCY CARA (banjo) / PETE BRIGGS (tuba) / ZUTTY SINGLETON (drums).  

On the flip is JOE VENUTI'S BLUE FOUR in 1928, doing a sizzling "THE WILD DOG."  JOE VENUTI (violin), DON MURRAY (clarinet and baritone sax), RUBE BLOOM (piano) and EDDIE LANG (guitar) populate this copacetic quartet. 

This original 1929 English Parlophone R 520 is in astounding EE+ condition. Not a mark on it. Plays fantastic.

These records come from my private collection, which I have been accumulating since 1967, and now am downsizing!  My highest priority in these eBay auctions is to give you the best possible idea of a record’s true condition and aesthetic value.  I always post at least four clear images, showing the record fore and aft, a close-up of the label, and the whole disc, warts and all.  If my purple prose won’t cut it, the pictures will!  Shipping is done with expert care.
