Ultra Rare Original UK Pegasus Records 1st Pressing (Purple Label) vinyl LP (PEG 13) released in 1972.This legendary and magnificent SPIROGYRA LP is top notch UK psych / folk-rock with dark progressive moves. Spirogyra played a uniquely English brand of electric folk-rock ala Trees,Fairport Convention and Steeleye Span. With awesome soprano vocals from Ms. Barbara Gaskin (later w/Hatfields and then the semi-commercial Stewart-Gaskin duo) the album is decidedly more conceptual and far less commercial than the afore-mentioned bands. Contributions include Dave Mattacks on drums, Steve Borrill (bass) and a very well endowed string section make for an amazing musical experience not to be missed for fans of the burgeoning British Folk-Rock scene of the early '70s.

A truly superb album,hardly ever shows up now,especially in such great condition as this original UK Pegasus Records 1st pressing is in!

Cover: Excellent + (Superb condition with only light wear near the edges and a minor crease near the lower left corner. The beautiful sleeve,designed by Pete Rhodes,printed and made by the E.J.Day Group,London and Bedford,is made of very fragile textured paper which has a soft grainy feel)

'OLD BOOT WINE' was their 2nd album (of three), produced by Max Hole, and engineered by Robin Black, with support from Sandy Roberton. This very early Pegasus album, PEG 13 features Dave Mattocks (Fairport Convention legend) sessioning on drums.You will have to search very hard to find a better condition copy,so please bid in complete confidence,this auction is for the rare Spirogyra "Old Boot Wine" LP on the original Purple Pegasus label (Peg13) and dates from 1972.Timeless folk-rock,a true gem,a classic for sure by one of the most legendary English 70's folk-prog groups!
