Description
Up for auction is the soundtrack lp to the classic 1982 surf film, Storm Riders. The movie was directed/produced by David Lourie, Jack McCoy and Dick Hoole, and features the surfing of Rabbit Bartholomew, Mark Richards, Gerry Lopez, Simon Anderson, Wayne Lynch, Thornton Fallander etc. Aussie bands such as Mondo Rock, The Church, The Sunnyboys, Australian Crawl and Little River Band feature on this soundtrack. Its an Australian pressing released by EMI (#EMX-112). Like many old surf movie soundtracks, it’s hard to find and is quite collectable, even more so because it still has the original poster/insert still intact.
Condition wise, I would rate the cover as VG(-). It has some edge, corner, and ring wear, but has no splits, tears or major creases. There are is no writing or stickers, although there is some residue from an old sticker on the rear upper RHS.
The vinyl would rate as EX(-). It’s clean, bright, and glossy with only a few barely noticeable marks. There is the slightest hint of background noise at the very start of track 1/side 1, but the sound quality on the rest of the lp is great.
Both of the labels are EX, with no marks or writing and little sign of wear.
The poster/insert is VG. It has never been hung up, but has slight corner and edgewear, and the bottom RHS corner has a small crease.
All in all, a nice copy of this hard to find album. As mentioned, it would be a fantastic player or would look awesome framed on the wall of the beach shack! Can pick up from Sorrento, Victoria, or will post Australia wide for $8.00; more for registered post. Will happily swap for other surf records, let me know what you have.
