Description
Here is a very hard to find US copy of the soundtrack lp to the classic surf film, Stormriders. The film was directed by Jack McCoy and Dick Hoole, and was released in the early 80's. Although the film featured surfers and surfing from allover the world, this soundtrack only featured top Australian and New Zealand pop acts of the time (Inxs, Split Enz, Australian Crawl, Mono Rock etc). As mentioned, this is a very hard to find US copy, pressed onto clear green vinyl (Import/Peak: PKA 1001). I have seen a couple of US copies before on normal black vinyl, but never seen or heard of any others on green. The US copy differs from the Australian one in that there is a slightly different song list, and the cover doesn't feature a blue trim on the front and has a rather plain green back.
I would rate the cover as VG+. Its nice and clean with no writing, ugly creases, tears/splits etc. There is minor corner, edge, and ring wear, and a light sticker mark on the front top RHS.
Visually the vinyl is VG, with light marks that have little impact on sound quality. It sounds great on my turntable, with only a little background crackle noticable between some tracks. No loud crackle, hiss, ticks or pops.
The labels are VG+, with a barely noticable texta mark on side 2, and miniscule wear marks on side 1.
Comes with original insert sheet which talks about the bands...it's in Ex condition.
The original paper inner sleeve in in Good condition, with some browning and splitting on the edges.
All in all, a great playing copy or a very rare piece of surf memorabilia to add to the collection! Can pickup from Mt Martha, Vic, or will send in a cardboard record mailer and padded bag for $9.00 Australia wide. Registered post available for an additional $2.95. Thanks for looking, good luck!
