SUMMERHILL "Summerhill" (US original issue) Superb psych/fuzz guitar LP from '69

Further Information/Comments
Original 1969 first pressing of a great, still greatly unknown and unappreciated hippie psych album.  The record is Near Mint and the sleeve is in great condition, with clean white sections and not suffering from the seam splits and rubbing/ring wear that USA produced sleeves normally suffer from (as they are not laminated). The labels are perfect except for a very minor paper loss (see photo) on Side 2 around the spindle hole. All in all, probably one of the best copies you will get.
Summerhill were formed in Los Angeles in 1968 by "Doug Burger" (keyboards), "Larry Hickman" (bass guitar), "Alan Parker" (vocals, lead guitar) and "Del Ramos" (drums, percussion).
Produced by "David Briggs" and recorded at "Wally Heider Studio" in San Francisco during 1969. 
Featuring ten original compositions, all four members contributed material giving the album a diverse feel. Summerhill's only and underrated album never settles on any particular style, and the label was pretty underground, giving their bands free reign in the studio, despite having "Deep Purple"'s "The Book Of Taliesyn" on their label. The set features a late-1960s West Coast vibe, bouncing all over the musical spectrum, including the Hendrix-psych styled "Bring Me Around", Sunshine Popsike "Soft Voice", "Curt Boettcher"-influenced Psychedelic folk-rock "Follow Us", and the complex rhythm structures in "What Can I Say"  ...other tracks brush with more experimental moves (check out the aural meltdown on side two's "The Bird"). Elsewhere Summerhill's pretty rural-flavored ballad "The Last Day" is every bit as good as anything being released by "The Byrds", "The Buffalo Springfield", or Poco (who's "Rusty Young" provided pedal steel guitar. As well, "Alan Parker"'s Fuzz guitar propelled "My Way (Hard for You)" would have sounded right at home on one of Byrds' Preflyte album. And"Friday Morning's Paper" is a magically psychedelic concoction of staggering drums, veiled vocals, drugged strings and raga guitars belonging on any compilation of this sort and will ring bells with underground music fans.. Even better was the Fuzz guitar and feedback drenched in the killer guitar Pop song "It's Gonna Rain". A great slice of harmony rich, LSD soaked grooves. 
It's a fairly rare LP and was included in the last of "Hans Pokora"'s "Record Collector Dreams" books. Tetragrammaton also tapped the album for a single in the form of "The Last Day" b/w "Soft Voice" (Tetragrammaton catalog number 1528 US 1969)

I am a collector who has been collecting records for nearly 30 years, and these records are either part of my collection that I no longer require, or have acquired over the years as part of a job lot I purchased.  My main motivation for selling records is to finance the purchase of further records for my collection.

I have been buying and selling on Ebay since July 2000, and have a 100% positive feedback rate. I pride myself on giving accurate gradings and doing everything I can to ensure that every sale goes smoothly.

I believe that collectable records are only worth what someone is willing to pay for them, so all my auctions have a realistic starting price in relation to their rarity and/or condition.

My gradings are based on the system used by Record Collector magazine as described below 

Mint: The record itself is in brand new condition with no surface marks or deterioration in sound quality. The cover and any extra items such as the lyric sheet, booklet or poster are in perfect condition. Records advertised as Sealed or Unplayed should be Mint.??

Excellent: The record shows some signs of having been played, but there is very little lessening in sound quality. The cover and packaging might have slight wear and/or creasing.??

Very Good: The record has obviously been played many times, but displays no major deterioration in sound quality, despite noticeable surface marks and the occasional light scratch. Normal wear and tear on the cover or extra items, without any major defects, is acceptable.

Postage and Packaging
All records are sent securely packaged in purpose made mailers with at least 2 cardboard stiffeners, clearly marked fragile.I  always remove the record  from the outer sleeve (to avoid seam split whilst in transit) and then insert the record and sleeve into a brand new polythene sleeve.
I only post items as per Ebay and Paypal terms & conditions, which require that items are sent by a method that is trackable. Due to this, please be advised that you check that the postages rates listed below are acceptable to you before bidding, but please be assured, P&P charges are only those incurred and represent no profit to me.  UK packages are sent 2nd class recorded, as there appears to be only a minor  difference in delivery times between 1st & 2nd class which the additional charge does not seem to warrant. If required, I will send 1st class (if requested) but there will be an additional charge to cover  the extra cost.
I  enter the tracking number for all packages on to Ebay either on the day of dispatch or the following day, so that you are fully aware of the progress of dispatched items.
I do combined shipping, so if you win more than one item it will work out a lot cheaper on the postage if I send them in the same mailer. If you purchase more than one record, please await receiving the invoice from me on the completion of the auction before paying, so that I can calculate the correct postage and you do not overpay.
Please note: If the value of the item, or combined items,  exceeds the standard compensation rate, there will be no extra charge to you,  as I will cover the additional cost  for  the increased insurance.
