Rare early 60s instrumental R&B album from the legendary Bo Diddley. Backed up by R&B band the Megatons. This is the third US pressing on the Chess/Checker label....the first and second had maroon and black labels respectively. Still, not an easy lp to find....rarely shows up in Australia!
Album has one vocal track "Surfers Love Call".....the rest are instrumental and are a mixture of originals and covers. While a few of the tracks have a "surf" vibe....the album generally has a more R&B/twist/rock n roll feel to it. There's a few really cheesy tracks on here, but also a couple of killer ones...."Surf Sink or Swim" and "Low Tide" are raw guitar driven tracks with a real garage sound...Bo at his innovative best!
Cover is (VG-). Corner clipped. Slight edge/corner/shelf wear. Sticker peel away on front. No seam splits/tears.
Labels are (VG+) Both have factory defects around spindle holes but otherwise little wear.
Vinyl is (VG). Retains most of its original gloss. Few light scuffs/marks but plays nicely!
