Description

Shellac: The Futurist LP
AKA The Friends LP  Shellac: The Futurist LP (Shellac Recording No. 8). Very hard to come by copy of this LP. Probably you know the story, but just in case, this LP was pressed by the band and never offered for sale and was given as a gift to friends of the band. The rear cover lists all the recepients. As such it's almost never sold, but a few trickled out here and there. This was sold to me by the record store I worked at in 2000 or so and has remained with me ever since. Condition: sleeve is VG++/NM-, some slight dog earing to the top two corners and a a small  mark/ink streak on the front of the sleeve on the lower right (I think it might be an effect from how the LP was printed). LP is NM-, glossy with only slight wear. High quality pressing per this band's usual standards. Shellac of course is Steve Albini ex of Big Black and Rapeman, Bob Weston of the Volcano Suns, and Todd Trainer who also records as Brick Layer Cake. The music herein was recorded for a dance performance and, to my mind, is some of their best (best still being At Action Park IMHO).
Grading Information: I grade strictly (see my feedback). The grading system I employ is as follows: M=Unplayed. New. NM=Only the most minor wear if any, nothing that affects playback. LP is bright, glossy and free of defects. Cover is clean, no splits, and shows only the most minor/trivial wear. EX=I do not use this grade. Equivalent to VG++. VG++=some minor wear, some visible marks, no deep scratches. A well taken care of record with only minor wear. Cover may have some minor ring wear and some wear around the edges, but nothing substantial. VG+=more marks that may cause occasional surface noise. Still a very playable disc, still sounding excellent, that will most will be quite happy with. Cover will show some wear and may have some seam splitting or small tears. Still very presentable.

I have had several questions asking me if the name of the original owner is circled on the back in silver pen or if a name is written on the back on the blank area the band left to write in names for those not on the printed list. 1.)  The name of the owner of the lp is circled in silver pen. 2) The winning bidder will be the only individual I will disclose the owner to 3) There is no name written in the blank area (see the photo uploaded with this update). 4) This is the original pressing, not a boot. Please see the additional detail photos. Etched in the run-off grooves is (side 1) Thank you-001-A , then letters reading "GOLDEN" then 366.1 (3) [note the "66" could be "GG", it's hard to tell] (side 2) Thank you-001-B, then letters reading "GOLDEN", then 366.2 (3) [again the "66" could be "GG"]. Feel free to e-mail with additional questions.
