Description

Syndicate-The Egyptian Thing/She Haunts You (Dot 16807) strong VG A-side plays VG++ and B-side plays VG small piece of scotch tape on B-side of label. Comes in Dot label sleeve. Very respectable copy of manic 1966 Los Angeles scorching punker that never lets up. Surely you must know of this 5-star monster if you collect '60s garage. A-side reissued off Back from the Grave #3 CD and #7 LP, and Chosen Few #2 LP & CD. B-side is a phenomenal haunting moody ballad off No No No CD.

South Los Angeles 60's legends. In August 64 a few high school pals started toying with the idea of a group and by January 65 had settled into a 5-piece. At this point they were then set to be ..a force which would make itself heard round the world by the inertia of its creative strength. (A quote from their 66 press bio REQUIEM FOR A SYNDICATE.) Their debut 45 My Babys Barefoot was released in August 65. The Egyptian Thing 45 was their second release, issued in November 65, the title taken from a line in an early Dylan song which mentioned an Egyptian queen. The Syndicate played countless high school and college dances all over Huntington, Newport, Fullerton and Orange County (Cali.), and a few clubs in Hollywood, Seal Beach and Long Beach. They also appeared on Charley ODonnells TOP 40 TV show in January of 66. They signed to DOT Records and were set to record an LP of original tunes but things didnt work out and they called it quits in mid 66. These two brutal 45s are left as their legacy.
