Description
An original very 1st press on the UK Fly label from '71. Matrix 2/2 - 1st cut. Etching 'Porky/Pecko Duck'. Note, importantly, that the very 1st copies can be identified by the absence of the Jeepster publishing credit alteration. You will note all later copies will show the (*) and 'Campbell Connolly' credit. Worth insisting on the early copies - they were pressed really heavy. The very earliest copies should come housed in an E.J.Day heavy-card cover with the Red hype sticker. Again, the early copies are much nicer to own than the later flimsy copies. The only disappointment is that this copy DOES NOT have the bespoke inner sleeve, or the poster. But if you wanted to assemble a top-level copy - this really would be a great place to start. Will ship in a MOFI inner for maximum protection.
Vinyl (Ex) In lovely condition and has only seen light use. Under close inspection there are a couple of light marks per side - nothing remotely troublesome. A thorough testing from beginning to end reveals a mostly EXCELLENT level of playback with two slight deviations. A beautiful player and one that will keep you coming back for more. You've gotta love the audio on these 1st copies - rich and detailed....there's no better way to take in Electric Warrior. By and large it is an absolute banger. Intros and inbetweens are nice and quiet and the audio comes across with superb clarity. The only marginal issue I could hold against it was just a touch of light static occasionally during the two paired down numbers on side 2.. that's "Life's A Gas" & "Girl". These tracks still play great - they just won't be quite as darn clean as the rest of the LP. Overall a highly recommended rendition. Would make an excellent basis for a gradual move to a complete copy. Note, there's a bit of discolouration to the side 1 label.
Cover (Ex-) A really marvelous looking cover. I can't tell you how difficult it is to find this very tricky original cover looking anywhere near this fine. Look at the other examples on-line - it was so so susceptible to surface wear.. But this particular example seems to have been very carefully looked after down the years. Front and back seem to be largely devoid of the surface wear and creasing you typically find on this title. The sticker is fully intact with no curling up or wear. There's edge wear in places, but it is far far less that is typically exhibited. The openings are in excellent order without wear or feathering. The spine seems to be mostly intact with minor wear. All the text still seems to be mostly legible. Overall the cover retains excellent rigidity in part thanks to the heavy-card employed in manufacture.
