Those Old Records - Rugeley - Staffordshire
Cool Music For A Hot Night
"Mood Music In The Modern Manner"
Relisted due to human error on my part. My initial gradings on the vinyls were incorrect and have now been rectified on this listing. I use a template and got this mixed up with another item. My sincere apologies to those people who were watching the initial listing. This is still a highly desireable item and the classification on this listing are accurate. Chris - Those Old Records
Label: Tempo
Catalogue Number: TAP 10
Matrix Numbers VMGT 1102 1E - VMGT 1103 2E
Labels: Factory Samples - Clean labels - rear is blank on both as this test pressings is two albums with one blank side on each. One label has hand written text - "Klein, Deuchar, Scott etc"
Vinyl: Vinyl Number 1 - (without hand written notes on the label) Excellent. The vinyls have been pro cleaned on an Okki Nokki machine and lies perfectly flat on the deck. Sound quality on this vinyl is very good ithroughout, bright and clear although there is some tape hiss here and there. There is some paper scuffing and one or two light hairline marks. These are not play impacting. I've played this vinyl through twice and there are no clicks, jumps etc.
Vinyl: Vinyl Number 2 - (with hand written notes on the label) This vinyl is not in as good a condition as number 1. The vinyl has been pro cleaned and lies perfectly flat on the deck. Classification on this vinyl is VG (Very Good). Please be aware that there is more background noise on this pressing and some clicking etc on several tracks. This is particulary noticeable on the first track "How Deep Is The Ocean" - Tracks 2/3/4 play fine with some background hiss. Track 5 - "Stars Fell On Alabama" has a few clicks but these are not excessive. Track 6 has light clicking as well throughout most of the track. However, despite all of that, the overall sound quality is superb with great playing from all.
Sleeve: Laminated flipback sleeve by West Brothers. The colours are unwashed, nice and bright to the front with no creasing or pen marks. There is edge wear to the bottom right hand corner but nothing serious. The spine is clearly readable. The rear sleeve is free from pen marks and tears although as you can see there is some aging to the laminate. The picture to the from sleeve is the writer Jackie Collins - taken by David Hurn.
Year of Release: 1959
Country Of Release: UK
Manufactured In: UK
Description: The standard album on Tempo is hard enough to find but a two album test pressing is certainly one of the rarest albums that I have handled for some time. I don't know how many of these were made and I can't find out a great deal about it at all. It came from the collection of a gentleman who was connected to the business and promoted jazz concerts in London in the sixties and into the seventies. There are 3000+ albums in the collection so expect some interesting titles. The "B" sides on both albums are blank with no labels - just a sonic high pitched noise throughout on both sides.
The tracks from this album are taken from Tempo EP's featuring all the top players at that time - Tubby Hayes, Dizzy Reece, Ronnie Scott, Don Rendell, Jimmy Deuchar, Derek Humble, Harry Klein, Dickie hawdon, Damian Robinson, Tommy Pollard, Phil Seaman and more.

Record Grading:
All records are graded as per the standards set by Record Collector. Records are examined under a strong halogen light and graded accordingly. In addition, all NON MINT records are played on a LINN Axis turntable with an Akito arm with a Roksan cartridge. I tend not to get carried away with the classification or use words like “impossibly rare” “vault copy” or any other such nonsense. My reviews are precise and to the point. It is assumed that you know something of the artist so I rarely provide a description of who they are/were etc. The High Numbers become The Who, `N Betweens become Slade – you will not find a long description on the history in these reviews.
Record Cleaning:
All NON MINT albums are professionally cleaned prior to classification on an Okki Nokki record cleaning machine before dispatch.
Packaging: (all vinyl 7” + 12”)
Packaging is of the highest quality. I use professional mailers at all times, each record is supported by 2 cardboard stiffeners. The inner sleeve and record are packed individually in order to reduce wear on the sleeve in transit. The record, inner and cardboard stiffeners are then packed inside a high grade polythene record protector before being sealed in the mailer. The mailer is then supported by tape around the edges in order to minimise risk.
Postage Costs:
Postage is normally done the next working day after payment. All items are sent "Recorded Delivery". There are no exceptions. Proof of postage is retained with all items.
