Up for auction a Mobile Fidelity Sound Lab The Beatles: The Collection. All albums are in GREAT condition. This box-set collection contains 14 LPs. It was released in 1982, and Mobile Fidelity’s mastering and pressing from the original studio tapes onto virgin vinyl is stunning. These albums have been re-mastered to CDs in newer box sets, but the CD versions simply don’t hold a candle to this vinyl. Even in 2015, this is the audiophile’s gold standard for The Beatles’ music. The set includes 14 LPs, a booklet with beautifully reproduced copies of all the album covers, notes on the re-mastering process, and a Mobile Fidelity Geo-Disc (MoFi’s cartridge-geometry alignment jig). A gold-stamped box with brass clasp houses the collection.
This is a one-owner set from a smoke-free home. Our client bought the collection in 1983 specifically to dub it to tape for frequent listening. It’s been in protected storage since then, and its case has kept the LPs pristine. They’ve only been played a few times each for dubbing and comparison to other pressings of the material. The only stylus that has ever touched them was a Shure Ultra 500, mounted on a VPI turntable and tracking at only a gram and a half.
This collection is complete. The LPs are in excellent condition, and each is still in its original rice-paper sleeve. Due to the easily damaged nature of this item, sorry no returns. Check out the super-sized pics for a complete look.
