Master Matrices YEX 773-2U/ YEX 774-2U

1st Pressing

The Let It Be Box set was released on 8 May 1970, which housed the original 1st pressing 2U / 2U vinyl's.

Some of this initial pressing run was held over by Apple Corps (EMI) for the mainstream 2nd pressing release of Let It Be in November 1970 and hence some of these 2U / 2U vinyl's coincided in small numbers with the sale of 2nd pressings which were 2U / 3U, 3U / 2U, or 3U/ 3U. So this is a 1st pressing vinyl LP which was never part of the box set and came in the second state LET IT BE sleeve with the half-tone Green Apple on the reverse, rather than the Red Apple which was on the sleeve in the Box Set.

The Sleeve: In Very Good Plus condition.  All text legible and pictorials clear and glossy and has held original colours well. The front and rear panels are smooth, glossy and clean with clear print and unblemished iconic front pictorial of each band member. Apart from a little laminate bubbling in two places there is not much to fault about the condition.

The length of the spine is complete without any fraying, and all original title and catalogue number text is legible. The sleeve is firm and flat and intact, including the inner partition.

There are no rips or splits anywhere. All edges are straight and completely free of any storage wear. The sleeve is sturdy and firm and hold the records and inserts well.

No handwriting or marks.

Inner Sleeve: Very Good Plus condition Apple Corps inner sleeve, still sturdy and holds the vinyl well. A little off-white discoloration and creasing but overall very fine condition for an original.

No handwriting or marks.

The Vinyl: The vinyl surfaces range as a strong Very Good Plus. Both sides have no feelable or deep scratches, with several very fine stylus surface hairline marks/ wispy sleeve trails which are mainly viewable under strong light in some areas. There are no scuffs or warps or dinks in the vinyl or anything that causes any detractions or interference to the audio. The majority of the area on each sides are completely blemish free, and the pressing sheen is still present all over with no dulling or groove wear. The records have received a moderate of amount plays commensurate with age and are in a far over average and respectable condition and are approaching Excellent.

The record lays completely flat on the turntable.

Robust 1970's vinyl's weighing at around 165 grams.

Labels: Very Good Plus. All text is clear and bright, the perimeter area around the spindle location is neat with a little location wear to the perimeter, but there are no spindle line traces to see in normal  light and those that are visible are confined to the inner groove.

Has the 1st pressing Darker Apples. An E.M.I. Recording” text on two lines and small 33 1/3. Publishing year printed with big copyright symbol (P)

No handwriting or marks.

Mother/ Stamps   - Side 1: 1 GAR Side 2: 2 GPM

Not many Mother's were used for this short run, but being 1st and 2nd these are still very close the Master Recording. Consistent with the short run of the 2U / 2U Matrices that didn't make it into the Box Set, the stampers are later ones.

The Audio: The audio grades at Excellent on both sides of the discs. The LP plays through clearly on both sides, with no pops, no background noises such as crackle or hiss, and there are no skips/jumps or sticks. There are hardly even any light static ticks, and those that are, are where to be expected i.e. the quieter parts on a couple of dead-wax grooves preceding and succeeding a few of the songs, but on the majority the records play superbly without any static ticks, offering a a full bass original stereo rendition of which many critics regard as The Beatles finest masterpiece. The stereo channelling is perfect with no feedback or hiss, and the vocals are crisp and clear.
