With Dr Robert listed on the side 2. record label, this ULTRA RARE 1st pressing also comes with its original E J Day cover. Later pressings came with the Garrod and Lofthouse variant.
Great Playing Record! SUPERB Audio!!! Great Cover and Record Labels!
This is the Ultra Rare 1st UK Mono pressing of Revolver, released in 1966 on the Parlophone label with the catalogue number PMC 7009. With the side two matrix XEX 606-1 and the rare mix of ‘Tomorrow Never Knows,’ this is a Holy Grail of Beatles vinyls, in stunning condition.
This is a great pressing of this classic album, and a great collectors opportunity. The first UK Mono 2 / 1 matrix records were withdrawn from sale in the UK after the rare mono mix of the track ‘Tomorrow Never Knows’ appeared on side two. Referred to as the ‘Remix 11,’ John Lennon discovered that his preferred ‘mix’ of the track had not been used on the album. Production was stopped and the 2 / 1 matrix records that had been issued were quickly withdrawn. But a small number of this extreme rarity did reach the record shops before the album was replaced with the more familiar 2 / 2 matrix and the standard mix of ‘Tomorrow Never Knows.’ The ‘Remix 11’ pressings also came with the earliest mono label on side two, stating ‘Dr’ Robert, while the spelling on the rear of the cover would read ‘Doctor Robert.’
ORIGINAL UK Pressing on the Mono Press Yellow & Black Parlophone label!!!! THIS IS A SERIOUSLY RARE LP and ESPECIALLY HARD TO FIND IN THIS GREAT CONDITION.
ONE OF THE BEATLES GREATEST, MOST SOUGHT AFTER VINYLS.

Revolver is the seventh album by The Beatles, released on 5 August 1966. Many of the tracks on Revolver are marked by an electric guitar-rock sound, in contrast with their previous, folk rock inspired Rubber Soul. It reached number 1 on both the UK and US Charts and stayed at the top spot for seven weeks and six weeks, respectively.
The album is often regarded as one of the greatest achievements in rock music history, and one of the Beatles' greatest studio achievements. It was released before their last tour in August 1966, but they did not perform songs from the album live. Their reasoning for this was that many of the tracks on the album, such as "Tomorrow Never Knows", were too complex to perform with live instruments.
Revolver is often cited as one of the greatest albums in music history. It has numerous shifts in mood and production texture, but in its innovative manipulation of amplification and electronics to produce new sounds on guitars and other instruments. Specific, widely-heralded examples include the backwards riffs of "I'm Only Sleeping", the sound effects of "Yellow Submarine", the sitar of "Love You To", the blurry guitars of "She Said, She Said", and above all the seagull chanting, buzzing drones, megaphone vocals, free-association philosophising, and varispeed tape effects of "Tomorrow Never Knows".
This Ultra Rare 1st Mono Pressing gives a great authentic Beatles listening experience. Hard to believe this great vinyl is from the 60's! A supreme rarity!
ALBUM PLAYED FOR GRADING:
This great record plays up to the visual and audio grading and beyond, with largely bright clear audio.
REVOLVER is a complex and varied collection of music, and is a relatively sensitive piece of vinyl, and hard to find in clear audio condition. Worn copies can have a lot of surface sound even on musically complex and busy tracks like 'Tomorrow Never Knows.' This pressing has strong audio, with bright clear sound. On the whole there is NO dominant interference, and NO loud pops or clicks, although there are a few patches of light distortion on a couple of tracks, as often found with rare vinyl of this age. Apart from that it really sounds great and plays with great sound separation and clarity!
I will give a detailed account below:'Taxman' bursts in with superb clear audio. Bright loud sound, there are no loud pops or clicks, and not a hint of distortion. There is some light static in the run in grooves but I could detect very little static during the track. There are no pops, clicks or even static tics.
The full orchestration of 'Eleanor Rigby' plays with great separation. This track is the first real test for Revolver, with multi layering but also a sparseness, it plays superbly. Barely any occasional static and certainly no loud pops or clicks. Amazing clear sound, there are for tics towards the end and some light distortion for the last ten seconds.
'I'm Only Sleeping' plays with some light distortion for the first minute and then occasionally after that. There are no loud pops or clicks. 'Love You To' opens with a very clean intro, and the sitar sounds amazingly clear and bright. Still no loud pops or clicks, no static and NO distortion. 'Here, There And Everywhere' plays with some light static through the track but the music is perfectly clear. Being ultra critical, I did hear a couple of light tics between the tracks, some very light static. 'Yellow Submarine' also plays with some light static through the track but the music is also perfectly clear. It plays with great clear music. 'She Said She Said' rounds off side one and sounds wonderful with bright clear loud audio. Superb sound with no distortion and no pops or clicks.
Side 2. begins with the classic upbeat 'Good Day Sunshine.' It plays through brilliantly with a couple of light pops, just a little light static in places. 'And Your Bird Can Sing' plays really well, with a little light static only. 'For No One' and 'Doctor Robert' sound great, with minimal surface static and no loud pops or other sound interruptions. A couple of light static tics only. 'I Want To Tell You' and the classic 'Got To Get You Into My Life' both sound superb, with bright clear sound, as does the final 'Tomorrow Never Knows'. This radical track rounds of this great vinyl superbly, with amazingly clear loud sound. I could only detect no light pops or clicks, no distortion and very little detectable static. A great audio performance of this amazing track.
An Excellent all round example of this rare vinyl the audio is patchy in a couple of places as stated above, but on the whole sounds bright and true.
I would give this great record an audio range of VERY GOOD to EXCELLENT, peaking at NEAR MINT in a few places.
THE RECORD – VISUAL GRADING
A superb piece of glossy vinyl, and a really thick pressing. The record has great shine, with little light handling marks or paper removal marks. There is one hairline scratch across three tracks on side 2. but it has no effect n the sound. This is a really great example, clear grooves that deliver great audio clarity on most tracks.
Graded at EXCELLENT to EXCELLENT PLUS.
THE LABELS
These early Mono Press Parlophone labels are in stunning condition, with no sticker marks or writing, and a few spindle traces on each side. A great pair.
Graded at EXCELLENT PLUS.
VINYL TESTED FOR ANY SIGNS OF WARPING:
Yes, NONE visible what so ever when tested be sight and on a moving turntable.
THE COVER
This vinyl comes complete with the ultra rare original Mono logo issue 'E J DAY' cover, in great condition.
These Revolver covers are very rare and very prone to wear, like so many of the classic Beatles vinyls from the sixties. The laminate is prone to cracking and lifting, with serious ring wear and destruction to the edges. The unlaminated back is usually heavily marked and the spines are nearly always flattened, worn and un readable. Not this one!
There is minimal rubbing to the corners, and no rubbing along the edges. The opening edges are very square and un frayed, with none of the common small splits at the opening. The white areas are very white, with no obvious blemishes. The back cover is nice and clean, with NO finger prints (that are nearly always present and cant really be removed), just some light ring wear and fading. There are a coupe of light creases only. The spine is square and un broken, (there are a couple of ultra light creases only) and the text is completely in tact. A great example. All round, this is a really TOP cover.
Graded at VERY GOOD PLUS to EXCELLENT.
THE INNER
This classic press comes with the Original UK inner sleeve, with NO splits on any of the sides, and NO splits or frays at the top, no staining or obvious discolouration, as clearly seen in the images. A stunning example, and one of the earliest editions.
Graded at EXCELLENT to NEAR MINT.
The record will of course come in a plain white replacement inner sleeve, to protect the originals!
RARITY
EARLY YELLOW AND BLACK MONO PRESSINGS in playable condition are becoming scarce. The vinyl is so often played so much, heavily marked, scratched, with noisy, poor and distorted sound.
The cover is almost impossible to find without serious wear, even modestly worn examples are scarce and this is a TOP example, with no cracks or serious marks. Finding a nice cover like this, with a heavy piece of vinyl, fantastic!.
FINDING AN ORIGINAL 1st MONO PRESS, with CLEAN LABELS, TOP AUDIO THROUGHOUT, the Ultra Rare Remix 11 with its Original EJ Day cover, MAKES THIS A GREAT OPPORTUNITY TO OWN AN EXTREMELY RARE PIECE OF MUSICAL HISTORY in GREAY CONDITION.

SCRUPULOUS EXAMINATION and TESTING:
All our records are play tested on highly sensitive equipment to ensure the sound quality and accuracy of description. We aim to give a precise and concise description of the sound, pointing out the slightest defect so that you know exactly what you are buying. We aim to describe all records as accurately as possible, and offer a full refund on return if for any reason you are not completely happy with the item description.
VINYL SOUND - PLEASE NOTE:
Highest quality vinyl with clear sound is rare, and what we always aim for. We only sell records that play with TOP AUDIO performance; super clear sound uninterrupted by hiss or other interference. Even with the cleanest pressing you will find occasional static or occasional light tics during playback, caused by a build of dust in the grooves. This is clearly different from the distortion, loud pops, repeating tics or clicks that are found on heavily played and worn pieces of vinyl. Any static build up will reduce when played, and we advise a light clean between plays for optimal performance.
