Description

The Beatles - "The White Album" - 12" inch vinyl stereo 2-LP (33 1/3 rpm)  – Apple - PCS 7067/8                   #cr#

Description

      • 12 inch, stereo double LP, 33 1/3 rpm
      • The album was originally issued in 1968 on The Beatles' own Apple label
      • The official title is 'The Beatles', commonly known as 'The White Album' due to its stark, white sleeve.
      • Despite the 'Mfd. in U.K.' on the label it also bears 'Made in France by Pathe Marconi'  above the Apple and a statement in French, below the Apple, that the stereo record could be played on mono equipment
      • Difficult to identify the particular pressing. I found this on a Beatles forum 'Your pressing is a 3rd reissue pressing (1st and 2nd reissues were side-opening numbered versions from 1969 and 1971/72) of the stereo and dates from somewhere between 1973 and 1975.  At some point during this time, the EMI pressing plant in Hayes, a few miles west of central London, was closed for refurbishment. These copies were pressed in France and then shipped back to the UK and put into UK sleeves so they are technically UK releases even though pressed by Pathe Marconi in France'.
      • Apple label with green apple on sides 1 and 3 and the inside of a sliced apple on sides 2 and 4
      • This is the ninth studio album from the band and is produced, once again, by George Martin with Chris Thomas and  Geoff Emerick, Ken Scott and Barry Sheffield as engineers
      • Recorded at EMI Studios at Abbey Road, London (with some recording sessions at Trident Studios) between May and October 1968.
      • Guest musicians include Eric Clapton (lead guitar on 'While My Guitar Gently Weeps'), Mal Evans, Jack Fallon, Jackie Lomax  and Pattie Harrison, Maureen Starkey and Yoko Ono providing backing vocals on various tracks. A whole host of session musicians were used including the Mike Sammes Singers!!! (backing vocals on 'Good Night'
        Yoko Ono

          • The cover is plain white front, back and spine with 'The Beatles' 'blind embossed' on the front. Designed by Richard Hamilton (in collaboration with McCartney) in stark contrast to the 'Sgt. Pepper' cover. This sleeve does not have a serial number anywhere on the cover
          • Track listing inside the front cover with individual black & white photos of the band members by John Kelly inside the back cover.
          • Comes with an insert of a poster with a montage of photos on one side and lyrics to the songs on th
