Description

Very nice original 1961 stereo copy of the Essential Billie Holiday, on Verve V6-8410. Recorded live at Carnegie Hall with a very interesting band made up of several west-coast musicians including Chico Hamilton and Kenny Burrell, as well as seasoned old-timers from her generation, like Coleman Hawkins, Buck Clayton, and Roy Eldridge. Brilliant recording with narrated autobiographical interjections. This copy is a very nice one. The disc has a few sleeve scuffs and light marks but it plays near flawlessly with barely the slightest tiny tick. The cover has a bit of ringwear and cornerwear but is nicely intact with no seam splits and a perfectly readable spine. A lovely original copy that sounds fantastic.
