THE JAZZ FIVE - The Five of US - TEMPO TAP 32 mono

This is the final jazz LP released by Tempo and also one of the rarest. It's also one of the best as the music swings with a typical warm and lively UK jazz sound from start to finish. Recorded in October 1960 at Decca Studios, London with Vic Ash (tenor sax), Herry Klein (baritone sax), Brian Dee (piano), and ex-Jazz Couriers Malcolm Cecil (bass) and Bill Eyden/Tony Mann (drums). Producer and label boss Tony Hall says in his notes 'I sincerely believe that their band is one of the best I've heard'. Who are we to disagree.

Here is a very rare opportunity to get a genuine UK original mono issue of this LP. Tempo jazz LPs have always been difficult to find, and as the label was in the process of being wound up while this LP was being produced it means that this particular title is more scarce than most. This is a VERY rare LP - it's unlikely that another will show up for a while - bid accordingly.

Vinyl is VG+ shows signs of play with some marks and light scratches. Having played through both sides I heard no hiss nor crackle but I did notice some random pops and ticks and occasional repetitive clicks. Overall the quality of the music and the sound itself outweighs the minor irritation of these imperfections.

Sleeve is VG++ the front is OK with laminate intact and without any holes, cuts, tears, abrasions, stickers, writing or splits, but has moderate creasing around the edges and light wear on the corners and open edge. There is some yellowing on the back due to age otherwise it's clean and tidy (see pic)
