The Kinks (1963–1996) were an English pop group that came out of the British R&B scene of the early 1960s.
Formed in 1963 in Muswell Hill, North London, they first gained prominence on the heels of the well-received and highly influential single “You Really Got Me” (1964). The group originally consisted of lead singer/guitarist Ray Davies, his brother lead guitarist Dave Davies, drummer Mick Avory, and bassist Peter Quaife. Quaife left (twice) in the late 1960s, and Avory finally left in 1984 as the result of a long-running dispute with Dave Davies, leaving only the Davies brothers as the core of the original group.
With Ray’s songwriting skills and unashamedly English voices, Dave’s impressive guitar work, and Avory’s tight and steady drumming, the band became one of the best and most influential groups of British pop and the “british invasion” of the U.S.A., lasting longer than any of their competitors, apart from The Rolling Stones, as they broke up in 1996. Their catalogue of songs has been covered by Van Halen, The Pretenders, The Black Keys, The Stranglers,Queens of the Stone Age , and many more.

F.Y.I... REVIEW...
The Kinks' debut album found them under the spell of the same bluesy American rock & roll that fueled both the Merseybeat bands as well as their grittier counterparts (most notably the Rolling Stones). Even with the pair of tried and true Chuck Berry numbers, Ray Davies' title song and a handful of other notables announced the emergence of a confident and original voice. His "Stop Your Sobbing" is a true gem. "Just Can't Go To Sleep," "I Took My Baby Home," and "You Do Something To Me" (originally released as a single and added to the CD reissue of this album) find Davies crafting top flight Beatle-pop. The band itself is a tough little rhythm machine, with guitarist Dave Davies' fist-sized chords churning away in tandem with the drums and bass. Though Ray Davies went on to find a broader base as a songwriter, the Kinks' first several albums are still as startling and convincing as they were decades ago. The 'Record Details';
The record is quite nice, as it shows it's been well taken care of. Graded NEAR-MINT-/VG++, with a minimum number, light paper 'sleeve' / minimal, superficial, light, 'hair-likes' ~ seen under bright light ONLY. ***WE PLAY GRADED THIS LP*** AND FIND NO AUDIO IMPERFECTIONS! NO 'CLICKS', 'TICS', 'SKIPS' and NO BACKGROUND NOISE...NO AUDIO INTERFERENCE!! SOUNDS GREAT! CAUTION> Side 1 label has a small hand placed sticker showing two numbers (can be easily removed). Also shows a small printed date...perhaps a filing number...please see pictures above. MUCH gloss and shine.
Original Inner-sleeve; Looks beautiful. CAUTION>Bottom seam split though it's 48 years!!
The Cover; Graded NEAR-MINT MINUS (NM-)
The beautiful bright white cover shows really quite little wear. No ring and no real corner wear (one corner; bottom right, shows beginning bend. Seams/Spine; in great shape, show really no wear at all. The open end of album does show a little wear of beginning 'peel' (NOT significant!)! Back cover shows a hand written number 4 on bottom right corner (please see pictures). Graded NEAR-MINT MINUS (NM-). Has much gloss & luster.
RECORD COMES IN A 'HI-GRADE' MFSL PVC INNER SLEEVE (FOR PROTECTION)
