The Rolling Stones : Some Girls A-4U / B3U Uncensored 1st Press 1978

This first pressing plays to a superb standard with barely any intrusion.  In fact the only interference is one dull click on the final track but even then it isn't that obvious.  The clarity, depth and power of the audio on both sides is stunning and the vinyl is in superb condition also and has clearly not been played very much.

The die-cut cover has been so well looked after with hardly any wear and the uncensored inner sleeve is in great shape also with just one small bottom edge split.

This first pressing has the Ted Jensen lacquer cut initials etched in the run outs.  The cover has bright colour bands on the front and the 'Some Girls' title is in red.

Visual description

The vinyl is in lovely condition and still has an immaculate jet-black glossy sheen with no marks or scratches.  Under a bright light I can only see a handful of very faint hairlines, it could hardly look any better.  The yellow labels are unmarked and have only a small amount of spindle wear.

Play grading

The unmistakeable intro on 'Miss You' plays with pristine clarity and with that full, deep rich sound.  Jagger's opening vocal section is just as impressive and it continues in the same precise way.  The quieter mid section is a fine example of that, there is no background at all.  Wyman's deep bass adds so much to the overall sound, not forgetting Sugar Blue's contribution of course.  The remainder is just as clean and the long fade out is more or less perfect with only a hint of mega light static right at the end.  It's still worth a Mint grading.

'When The Whip Comes Down' rocks out loud and true with no interference.  No ticks, clicks, pops or static the sonic quality is as strong as ever and there is no distortion.  Mint

'Just My Imagination...' impresses on every level with a clarity and power that cannot be faulted.  The only cover on the album, originally sung by The Temptations, the Stones' certainly put their own spin on it and from start to finish there is no background to be heard not even on the fade out.  Mint all the way.

The 'controversial' title track 'Some Girls' again plays to a very high end standard but with just a touch of inner groove distortion.  Nothing intrusive and no doubt it's more due to how the record was recorded / produced because it certainly hasn't been played very much.  I'll say Near Mint

'Lies' ends S1 with very powerful audio and... no interference.  If there is any inner groove distortion it is so minimal and you still can still play it loud without it affecting the sound quality.  Let's say Mint-

-----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

The intro on 'Faraway Eyes' plays perfectly and the first two verses are just as clean and precise.  The chorus plays beautifully and it continues to play with stunning clarity and warmth.  No issues just pure Mint audio from start to finish.

'Respectable' again sees them rocking out in true Stones' style and to say it plays well is an understatement!  The power and depth of the audio is phenomenal and 'as new' sums it up perfectly.  A high end Mint version.

The intro on 'Before They Make Me Run' is flawless and Richards' opening vocal is equal to that.  It continues in the same manner with no intrusion on the audio - every section is so strong and dynamic and Mint is again deserved.

'Beast Of Burden' is as close to perfect as is possible and I am sure many would argue that it is!  There is just one minor tick on the intro but you could easily miss it as one, it is quiet and two, it is on a beat.  In saying that you cannot fault the sonic quality on offer here - the clarity is stunning and it easily deserves a Mint- grading.

'Shattered' completes the album with that familiar deep powerful audio and with only one dull sounding click during Wood's solo towards the end.  It isn't loud and really not that intrusive.  I think Near Mint- is fair and apart from that one minor infringement the audio is stunning across both sides.

The Cover & Uncensored Picture Inner

The G & L die-cut cover is in superb condition with no obvious wear.  The top edge has just one tiny barely visible 'rub' and the bottom edge is perfect.  The spine is in lovely condition also and all the corners are so clean with no real wear.  The opening edge is close to perfect with just one tiny indent and a hint of feathering at each end?  I am being picky because it is so so minimal!  The front cover is stunning with no damage on any of the 'faces' and the back cover is just as impressive.  This is a stunning example of this iconic cover.

The uncensored inner sleeve has just one small 'clean' split on the bottom edge and a small corner crease but is otherwise in great shape without any marking.

Postage & Packaging

I will only send items items worldwide via tracked shipping.  This provides 'peace of mind' in case of loss or damage.  The shipping costs are shown below and combined shipping is always offered.  Any over-payment will always be refunded.

The Royal Mail only insure up to a value of £250 so if an item sells for more it may be wise to use a courier service (e.g. Parcelforce or DPD).  An extra insurance premium will be required but I will not know the exact amount until the final sale price is known.  Because of this I will sometimes have to estimate the cost and this will be shown in the listing.  Please wait for the invoice before making payment and if you have any questions please feel free to ask.  Many thanks.

All vinyls are packaged in strong over-sized custom made mailers with plenty of extra cardboard protection.  They are placed inside separate poly-lined inners outside the cover so as to avoid seam splits in transit and then placed inside a PVC sleeve to provide even more protection.  I pride myself on my high quality packaging as my feed confirms and if any customer has any specific requirements I am more than happy to help.

The mailers I use cost £1.00 each and I will use anything between 3-5 cardboard stiffeners which cost approx £0.18 each.  There is also the cost of the poly-lined inner and PVC sleeve to consider, it all adds up!  Not forgetting that eBay take 10% of the shipping fee also!!
