Description

This is Mr Fantasy by Traffic released in December 1967. A wonderful debut album! A

wonderful mix of english psych quirkiness and sublime musicianship headed of course by the

unique Steve Winwood vocals. This is the first pressing as indicated by the dead wax matrix

numbers set in typical heavyweight sixties vinyl. The album was released in both mono and

stereo each having slightly different mixes for some of the tracks. For this reason both versions

are essential in my opinion regardless of rarity!

Record – The heavyweight vinyl shows an average number of hairline marks under bright

light and one or two small scratch lines that do not affect play at all (see sound quality below).

This places the vinyl in the Excellent Minus grade as there is nothing seen I would describe as excessive.

Labels – The beautiful Pink Island “eye” design labels are graded Excellent and shows no

writing or unwanted marks. The spindle hole area is unworn with just a few spindle lines

as evidence of play.

Cover – The gatefold cover is laminated to the front and the back. It has no major wear,

and no ringwear or writing. There is some rubbing/wear to the bottom spine corner but

otherwise nothing excessive to report. The cover is graded Excellent Minus

Front Cover – The laminated front has some light creases, but no rips, tears, writing or

ringwear.

Back Cover – The laminated back again has some light creases but no rips tears writing or ringwear just a mild record shape impression.

Inside Gatefold – The interior gatefold has no defects to report. It has one or two tiny age blemishes but that’s all. A largely white interior that shows no loss of whiteness at all and no rips or writing.

Spine Edge  – The spine is flat with no rub marks or splits. All of the spine text is clear and legible.

Record Entry Edge – This is on the gatefold inside (similar to the Beatles For Sale album) and is perfectly straight with no wear or feathering.

Top and Bottom Edges - Straight with no wear, splits or rubbing for all four gatefold edges.

Corners – Some rubbing/wear to the bottom spine corner The top spine corner has a near invisible tiny tape placing presumably placed there to reinforce the fragile corner. All other corners are in fine shape with just tiny beginnings of rounding only.

Sound Quality- The record plays beautifully throughout. I have play graded the album entirely and it plays with beautiful audio, way above its visual grade with no distortion, crackle or hiss at all. I may have heard possibly one or two tiny pops throughout the whole record which gives you some idea of its quality.

Overall – A very respectable MONO copy of Traffics classic album from 1967 with great undiminished sound quality. A wonderful album!
